General Operative
General Operative – Manufacturing Team
Brief Description
Are you interested in joining a well-established and growing manufacturing company? Due to continued growth, Tricel Gloucester is currently seeking a reliable, hardworking, and motivated General Operative to join our manufacturing team.
This is a hands-on role responsible for operating machinery, supporting assembly and stores activities, and ensuring products are manufactured, packed, and dispatched efficiently while upholding high standards of safety, quality, and housekeeping. The position suits someone who:

Shift rotation:
- Week 1: 06:00–14:00 (Monday to Friday)
- Week 2: 14:00–22:00 (Monday to Friday)
The role reports directly to the Manufacturing Manager.
Responsibilities
- Operate factory presses while adhering to best practice and safety procedures
- Work across all factory areas, including SMC, drilling machines, stores & assembly
- Prepare and load goods for dispatch following company procedures
- Perform forklift duties (where licenced)
- Pack materials for safe storage and movement
- Label goods accurately
- Assist with goods inwards picking, packing and labelling for daily manifests
- Manage inbound and stock storage, including monthly stock takes
- Maintain factory housekeeping and follow H&S guidelines
- Prioritise safety for yourself and others, reporting concerns to management
- Ensure all work meets quality and compliance standards
- Perform any other duties assigned by management to meet operational needs

Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in manufacturing environments strongly desired
- Ability to work under pressure
- Cross-functional adaptability across all factory departments
- Attention to detail for accuracy and precision
- Strong numeracy skills
- Flexibility, with willingness to work overtime when required
- Ability to undertake manual handling, including lifting, pushing, and moving loads up to 29kg
