We’re looking for a hardworking and reliable General Operative to support the smooth day-to-day running of our site operations. In this hands-on role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring safe, organised, and efficient working environments while assisting with a range of civils activities across the drainage network. From site preparation and excavation to supporting pipe installations, manhole construction, and routine maintenance, you’ll be involved in varied tasks that help keep our projects progressing safely and to a high standard. Working closely with experienced operatives and supervisors, you’ll follow clear instructions, communicate effectively, and contribute positively to the successful delivery of work on site.

About CBUL

Cappagh Browne Utilities Ltd is a special purpose joint venture established to deliver wastewater network maintenance and repair services for Southern Water across the South of England. We focus on keeping sewer networks operating efficiently through planned maintenance, emergency response, and rehabilitation works. Our capability is underpinned by a substantial fleet of specialist vehicles including vacuum tankers, jetting units, and CCTV survey equipment, supported by advanced technology for rapid diagnostics and effective solutions. With a reputation for safety, reliability, and technical expertise, Cappagh Browne plays a critical role in protecting communities and maintaining essential infrastructure.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • A respectful, reliable, and proactive attitude with strong communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions clearly and work safely at all times
  • Basic understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, or basic construction equipment (desirable)
  • Previous groundwork or utilities experience is helpful but not essential

Qualifications

  • Essential: NRSWA Street Works
  • Desirable: Full clean driving licence, Service Avoidance (Cat & Genny)
