General Operatives – Groundworker Role (Wakefield)
About the Role
We are seeking enthusiastic and positive General Operatives based in Wakefield to join one of our Groundworker gangs operating in the region.
As part of this role, you will:
- Work as part of a skilled gang across various construction sites, primarily within the water industry.
- Demonstrated proactive approach towards work and health and safety best practices.
- Core experience preferred in:
- General civils work
- Concreting
- Deep drainage
- Pipe-laying
In this capacity, you will support proactive gangs in delivering first-class civil and water sector engineering projects.
Candidate Specification
Essential Requirements
- Experience in a wide range of Civil Engineering tasks, particularly specialising in:
- General civils work
- Concreting
- Excavations
- Deep drainage
- Pipe-laying
- CSCS Touchscreen pass requirement, plus completion of a 1-day Health & Safety Awareness course.
- Minimum requirement: Driving licence (essential).

Preferred Attributes
- Plant tickets (CPCS, NOCN or NPORS) currently held or worked towards—acceptable for:
- Forward Tipping Dumper
- Ride-on Roller
- National Water Hygiene Card
- Experience in Slinger/ Signaller and Confined Spaces (City & Guilds) roles basic training
(Note: Training provided for additional relevant plant tickets if needed.)
