We are now looking for a General Operative to play a key role in our project delivery teams.


The Role

The General Operative will be working for our Integral Hire (IHL) division of Trant Engineering and assisting with manual tasks, maintaining site cleanliness, transporting materials and equipment, and ensuring compliance with health & safety standards.


What You’ll Be Doing

Technical Responsibilities

  • General duties such as equipment handling, loading/unloading, site cleaning, and tidying.
  • Transport materials and tools safely around the site.
  • Prepare and maintain work areas, including clearing debris and maintaining access routes.
  • Report faults or resolve minor operational problems independently.
  • Complete logs, reports, or system updates accurately.
  • Flexible work ethic and ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Safety, Health, Environment and Quality

  • Follow all site health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Report hazards, unsafe conditions, and near-misses to supervisors.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, site briefings, and site inductions.
  • Assist in maintaining site standards, cleanliness, and organisation.
  • Identify obvious defects or issues and report them to supervisors.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • CSCS Card.
  • UK Driving Licence

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 1 in Civil Engineering, Construction.
  • GCSE – English & Math.
  • Previous experience in a similar role 0-1 years.
