Plant and Lift Operator – Highways Maintenance Team

Key Responsibilities

  • Plant & Equipment Operation

    • Drive/operate licensed plant and equipment daily to meet operational requirements
  • Slinging & Lifting Operations

    • Safely interpret basic and intermediate lift plans
    • Follow instructions from appointed persons and lifting supervisors
    • Sling, secure, and signal a variety of loads using simple and complex lifting equipment
    • Communicate clearly with equipment operators via hand and voice signals
  • Health & Safety

    • Uphold and promote construction health and safety standards on-site
    • Understand the impact of safe working practices on yourself and colleagues alike
    • Adhere to all safety protocols, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Attendance & Workaray
    • Arrive punctually and depart at designated shift times
    • Remain flexible – willing to fulfil additional responsibilities as required by site management

What You’ll Bring

  • Technical & Licensing Requirements (Essential) ▪ PCV Excavator Lifting Qualification ▪ Wheeled Excavator (>10 tonnes) licence ▪ Valid Clean Driving Licence

  • Experience (Desired but not mandatory) ▪ Preference given to applicants with Highways sector experience or relevant background ▪ Agricultural tractor licence (advantage) ▪ CSCS Card (will issue upon development if new)

  • Personal Attributes & Competencies

    • Ability to undertake physical manual work in all-weather conditions
    • Solid commitment to Health & Safety principles and compliance
    • Strong communication skills alongside basic literacy and numeracy
    • Willingness to work flexibly and adapt to routine changes
