General Postdoctoral Researcher (Masters/PhDs) – AI Training

About The Role

We're looking for Masters and PhD researchers to tackle complex, multi-disciplinary problems that push the boundaries of AI reasoning, working alongside leading AI labs on challenges that foster real-world impact.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role designed for researchers who want to contribute to meaningful, intellectually demanding work on their terms. No prior AI industry experience is required—your academic depth and research expertise are exactly what we value.

Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week


What You'll Do

  • Develop and solve advanced AI problems with real-world relevance across academic and professional STEM domains
  • Apply your research expertise to design complex, rigorous problem statements that enhance AI reasoning capabilities
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts to improve model performance
  • Ensure academic rigor, clarity, and depth in all deliverables
  • Work independently and flexibly—no meetings, no micromanagement

Who You Are

Required:

  • Holds a Master’s or PhD in a STEM or highly technical discipline from a top university
  • Demonstrates a strong track record of research, publications, or complex project work
  • Communicates with exceptional clarity and precision in written English
  • Is meticulous and detail-oriented, aligning with peer-review standards
  • Is self-motivated and comfortable working asynchronously with minimal guidance
  • Resides in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand

Nice to Have:

  • Prior experience with data annotation, evaluation systems, or data quality workflows
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or other research-oriented programming languages
