General Practice Call Handler | Brooklands Health Centre | Full-Time (40) or Part-Time Contract Can Be Considered

We are looking for a role where you can truly make a difference every day? Join our team in Milton Keynes as a GP Call Handler and become the first point of contact for patients accessing healthcare services.

Based at Brooklands Health Centre in Milton Keynes, you’ll be part of a supportive and fast-paced environment where your communication skills and attention to detail will help ensure patients receive the care and guidance they need. If you enjoy working with people and thrive in a busy setting, this could be the perfect role for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming patient telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner
  • Handle a wide range of patient queries efficiently and sensitively
  • Book, amend, and cancel appointments using the EMIS system
  • Accurately navigate patients to the appropriate clinician or service (signposting)
  • Manage general administrative queries and provide support where required
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality at all times
  • Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams to ensure smooth service delivery

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and a professional telephone manner
  • Strong customer service skills with a patient focused approach
  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to remain calm and work effectively under pressure
  • Competent IT skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to effectively signpost patients

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a call handling, reception, or administrative role
  • Experience working within a GP practice or healthcare setting
  • Familiarity with EMIS and SystmOne
  • Understanding of services and patient pathways
