GP Out-of-Hours Clinician – West Cheshire
About the Role
The GP Out-of-Hours Clinician will provide general medical services during evenings, weekends, nights, and bank holidays, ensuring high-quality urgent care for all patients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the medical needs of patients contacting the service.
- Developing appropriate out-of-hours healthcare solutions for West Cheshire.
- Administering clinical sessions (face-to-face, telephone advice, home visits) as per the service rota.
- Supporting streaming protocols in emergency departments when rostered.
- Delivering a mix of 10-minute appointments and telephone triage.
- Responding to medical issues—taking histories, performing exams, diagnosing, and referring where needed.
- Providing preventative healthcare, advice, and medical support for nursing-referred patients.
A minimum commitment of two weekends per month and four of eight bank holidays is required.

Responsibilities
- Comply with NHS compliance protocols and service agreements.
- Multi-task efficiently across telephone, home visits, and in-person consultations.
- Collaborate with GP registrars or medical students attached to sessions.
- Personalise care based on CCG patient demographics.
- Follow standard treatment and service access guidelines.
Requirements
- Fully qualified GP registration.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, nights, and bank holidays.
- Ability to adhere to out-of-hours protocols and urgent-care procedures.
- Strong clinical skills, including history-taking, examination, triage, and referral.
