AECOM is offering an exciting opportunity to join our award-winning Soil, Groundwater, and Remediation Team. You’ll thrive in a collaborative, high-performing environment that prioritises wellbeing, flexibility, and professional growth.
Working Scope
Our team delivers services across diverse sectors—including industrial, energy, pharmaceutical, land development, ports, road, and rail—such as:
- Desk studies
- Site investigation
- Risk assessment
- Remediation strategy, design, implementation, and validation
- Environmental monitoring and close-out
With a mix of exciting large infrastructure projects and longstanding engagements, this role provides an ideal platform to develop technical and commercial skills, take project ownership, and contribute to meaningful environmental outcomes.

Location & Hybrid Options
This role can be based in our offices in Birmingham, Cardiff, and Manchester, with the option for hybrid working.
Responsibilities
You’ll deliver:
- Phase 1 environmental assessments and routine ground investigations,
- Technical quality control, budget adherence, and programme management,
- Support in fee proposal preparation for internal and external clients,
- Project management from desk study and feasibility to delivery of site investigations, data interpretation, remediation design, and implementation.
Qualifications & Requirements
What We’re Looking For
Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? We’re seeking:
Education
- An undergraduate degree (minimum) in an environmental, science, or engineering-based subject.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Deep understanding of contaminated land assessment regulations and guidance,
- Working knowledge of CDM regulations (Construction Design and Management) and site management,
- Ability to develop conceptual site models,
- Experience with qualitative risk assessments.
Communication
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise technical reports.
Field Experience
-
Hands-on experience with field investigations, including:
- Site supervision,
- Drilling supervision,
- Sample collection (groundwater and ground gas),
- Supervision of remediation activities.

Other Requirements
- Valid UK full driving licence,
- Willingness to travel within the UK and travel away from home for periods.
- CSCS card holder (essential).
