Engineering Geologist

Location: Oxford

Salary: GBP34,000:GBP40,000

About The Role

An established environmental and engineering consultancy is looking to appoint an Engineering Geologist to join their expanding Leeds-based team. This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse range of ground investigation and environmental projects, supporting developments from early-stage assessment through to remediation and delivery.

Working within a hybrid setup, the successful candidate will be involved in both site-based and office-based activities, managing investigations, preparing technical reports, and supporting project delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Engineering Geologist seeking long-term career development within a collaborative consultancy environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out and supervise ground investigation works on a variety of sites.
  • Coordinate fieldwork activities and ensure technical standards are maintained.
  • Manage subcontractors and external contractors throughout project delivery.
  • Prepare factual and interpretative technical reports.
  • Undertake contaminated land and geotechnical risk assessments.
  • Assist with Phase I and Phase II site investigations.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure deadlines and budgets are achieved.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and technical records.
  • Liaise with clients, regulators, and stakeholders professionally.
  • Provide practical recommendations based on geological and environmental findings.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Support and mentor junior team members where required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience within engineering geology or geoenvironmental consultancy.
  • Knowledge of Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments and ground investigation practices.
  • Degree qualified in Engineering Geology, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of current environmental and geotechnical regulations.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and report writing skills.
  • Commercial awareness and strong problem-solving ability.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site work.
