Senior Associate / Director
Location: London or New York
Octavius Finance is partnering with a leading global geopolitical advisory firm to appoint a Geopolitical Advisor & Macro Economist to join its growing international team.
With established offices in London and New York, the firm advises senior executives, boards, investors, and policymakers on the geopolitical and macroeconomic developments shaping global business. As a truly international organization, the role can be based in either London or New York, working closely with colleagues and clients across both offices.
The firm is seeking a geopolitical advisor with a strong macroeconomics background, rather than a traditional economist. This individual will become the firm's internal economics lead, bringing macroeconomic expertise into broader geopolitical analysis while acting as a trusted advisor to clients across a diverse range of industries.
In addition to leading client engagements, you will help shape the firm's intellectual agenda by identifying emerging macroeconomic and policy themes, developing thought leadership, and supporting business development initiatives.
This is a highly visible role offering significant exposure to senior decision-makers, complex international issues, and a collaborative team of geopolitical specialists.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
