Are you an experienced Geospatial Platform Operations Manager who wants the opportunity to sustain and shape the geospatial capability behind one of the UK’s most distinctive land, coast and seabed portfolios?
Purpose of Role
The Crown Estate manages a uniquely varied portfolio across the urban realm, countryside, coast, seabed and local communities. As Geospatial Platform Operations Manager, you will keep our enterprise geospatial platform reliable, secure and easy to use while helping to evolve the capability that delivers services and underpins decisions across the business. You will lead day-to-day platform operations, work with data, digital and vendor teams to resolve issues, and turn user needs into practical improvements that support a growing analytics ecosystem.
Main Accountabilities
- Run a reliable enterprise platform: Lead day-to-day support and sustainment of the geospatial platform, maintaining stability, performance and security all in alignment with service standards.
- Own issues through to resolution: Act as the primary point of contact for platform queries, triage incidents, manage support tickets and keep users informed.
- Improve how the platform works: Identify opportunities to simplify processes, enhance capabilities and undertake upgrades to keep the platform evergreen.
- Shape future capability: Work with the geospatial DevOps squad, other digital teams, business stakeholders and suppliers to translate backlog priorities, user needs and vendor roadmaps into practical platform improvements.
- Maintain trusted geospatial data: Support the enterprise geospatial data model by helping ingest, maintain, retire and document datasets and metadata using manual and programmatic approaches.
- Assure quality and outcomes: Make sure operational and development work is delivered to agreed standards, supports business priorities and aligns with strategic roadmaps.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
