Geotechnical Design Engineer – Reading
About the Role
A growing engineering consultancy based in Reading is seeking a Geotechnical Design Engineer to join its expanding team, offering an opportunity to grow your career while working on major rail and infrastructure projects.
With structured training, ongoing support, and clear career progression, you’ll develop your technical expertise alongside senior engineers, taking on increasing responsibility as your experience grows.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design of foundations, retaining walls, slopes, and earthworks
- Interpret ground investigation data and prepare geotechnical assessments
- Produce geotechnical calculations and technical reports
- Support rail and infrastructure projects from concept to construction
- Collaborate with senior engineers and multidisciplinary project teams
- Attend client and project meetings as required
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and project requirements
- Contribute to technically challenging projects across the UK

Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline
- At least one year’s experience in geotechnical design
- Experience in prepare technical reports and undertaking geotechnical assessments
- Interest in working on rail and infrastructure projects
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Full UK driving licence (desirable)
