Geotechnical Engineer

Geotechnical Engineer Opportunity – Energyline Business Unit

Aureos Energyline are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer/Geologist to join our dynamic Geotechnical Department. This role offers the perfect blend of design, survey, and consultancy work for the power sector across overhead lines, underground cables, and related infrastructure projects.


About the Role

Aureos Energyline collaborates on a wide range of overhead line and underground cable projects, combining planning, environmental, and site-based expertise to deliver practical, high-quality solutions.

As part of our Geotechnical Department, we’re seeking an enthusiastic, detail-driven professional with:

  • A minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience in geotechnical or related industries
  • A balance of office-based work and hands-on field experience
  • Exposure to transmission and distribution network projects
  • The ability to deliver geotechnical services under the guidance of Senior/Principal Geologists while gaining expertise in a professional environment.

Your role will span geotechnical design, fieldwork, and project management, assisting major power infrastructure clients.


Responsibilities

You will be involved in the following key tasks:

Core Duties

  • Conduct geo-environmental desk studies for linear infrastructure projects, including overhead lines (OHL), cables, and pipelines.
  • Perform site reconnaissance, geomorphological mapping, and asset assessments.
  • Supervise ground investigations, including logging and sampling (aligning with BS5930/EC7).
  • Manage small to medium-sized projects under the direction of Senior or Principal Geotechnical leads.
  • Develop ground models, engineering sections, and analytical parameters.
  • Process and analyse geotechnical data, including mapping and statistical analysis.
  • Provide office support for project planning, bidding, costing, and business development activities.

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Geosciences, Earth Sciences, Geology, or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in soil rock logging, sampling techniques, and site supervision.
  • Sound knowledge of GIS/Geo-mapping tools, particularly ArcGIS.
  • Competence with geotechnical software (examples: GeoFine, SlopeW, Pebble Geo).
  • A track record of working independently and solving technical challenges.
