The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Geotechnical Engineer to join a growing specialist consultancy delivering projects across the residential, commercial and rail sectors.

This role is suited to a candidate with a minimum of three years' UK geotechnical project experience who is looking to continue developing their technical, reporting and project delivery skills within a supportive consultancy environment.

The successful candidate will be involved in the planning, supervision and delivery of ground investigation projects, interpretation of ground conditions, preparation of technical reports and support of geotechnical design recommendations.

This is a strong opportunity for a developing engineer to gain exposure to a varied project portfolio while working closely with experienced senior engineers and project managers.

About the Consultancy

The employer is an established geotechnical and geo-environmental consultancy providing practical ground engineering advice to clients across the UK.

The business supports projects across residential development, commercial schemes, infrastructure and rail, delivering technical support from early feasibility and ground investigation through to reporting, design advice and construction-stage support.

The consultancy offers a hands-on working environment where engineers can develop strong technical capability, client awareness and project delivery experience.

The Role

As Geotechnical Engineer, the successful candidate will support the delivery of geotechnical projects from initial site assessment through to investigation, reporting and technical recommendations.

The role will include both office-based and site-based responsibilities, with regular involvement in ground investigation supervision, factual and interpretative reporting, ground model development and design support.

Applicants should be comfortable working across multiple projects and communicating effectively with clients, contractors, laboratories and internal technical teams.

  • Assist with the planning and delivery of ground investigation projects
  • Supervise site investigation works including trial pits, window sampling, cable percussion and rotary drilling
  • Liaise with drilling crews, subcontractors, laboratories and project managers
  • Undertake soil and rock logging to current geotechnical standards
  • Prepare accurate site records, field notes and investigation logs
  • Coordinate laboratory testing schedules
  • Monitor site progress and report any technical or operational issues
  • Ensure site works are completed safely and in accordance with project requirements

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
