Job Overview

Weatherford has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Geozone Product Line Quality Leader in Tubular Running Services (TRS) to join their team in Aberdeen, UK.

The Geozone (GZ) Product Line (PL) Quality Leader role is responsible for acting as a subject matter expert for the GZ quality team, ensuring procedure and work instructions are consistently applied across **R&M (Research & Manufacturing) and Operations locations. The role includes simplifying or refining processes as well as coordinating responses to incidents by leading Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) with cross-functional input. The position also focuses on analysing service disputes and liquidated damages to advance Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) reduction initiatives.

This role reports to the Quality function and provides product line expertise to drive quality improvements, reduced Non-Production Time (NPT), reduced quality incidents, and improved margins within TRS.


Responsibilities

Operations

  • Support Global Service Delivery in distributing, implementing, and training employees on Operational Control Plans (OCPs), Product & Service Realization Process (PSRPs), and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with Global PL (Product Line) Quality Leaders and Global Service Delivery to highlight OCP, PSRP, procedural improvements, and opportunities for simplifying or phasing out outdated documents.
  • Ensure adherence to Global Product Line processes, OCPs, PSRPs, and work instructions.
  • Implement prevention-based quality tools, including:
    • Process Control (SPC – Statistical Process Control),
    • Design of Experiments (DoE),
    • Poke-Yoke (error-proofing methods) to eliminate failure modes,
    • Reduction of process drift/variation to achieve uniform outcomes.
  • Guarantee execution of CTQs (Critical to Quality) and CTPs (Critical to Process).
  • Utilise process mapping, cause & effect (fishbone) diagrams, control charts, and pareto charts to identify and visualise issues, then recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, including:
    • Service alerts,
    • Technical and operational work instructions,
    • Zero-tolerance rules, retrofits, article recalls, checklists, and performance dashboards.
  • Eliminate non-value-added steps in processes, working closely with Quality and Product Lines.
  • Drive adherence to processes and work instructions to reduce defects, NPT, and COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality).
  • Oversee Project Readiness processes.
  • Lead Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) of designated product line Corrective Preventive Action Requests (CPARs), coordinating resources, including engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers.
  • Communicate Process Capability (PC1/2) findings within Geozone and escalate PC3 Track & Trends to the GZ Quality Manager.
  • Validate corrective actions taken on CPARs.
  • Ensure Lessons Learned are systematically recorded in a dedicated product line database.
  • Monthly analysis of COPQ related to the GZ Product Line(s), driving improvement actions to achieve reduction targets.
  • Provide work instruction training or collaborate to ensure quality gaps from poor adherence are addressed.
  • Technical audit support as requested by the GZ Quality Manager or Auditor.
  • Ensure adherence to Test Data Management Excellence (TDME) and calibration requirements, driving needed training and improvements.
  • Support tendering and contract reviews within Geozone, aligning with the Project Readiness Assessment process.
  • Monitor and oversee Project Readiness Assessments (PRA) of awarded projects.

  • Prioritise Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and Environmental protection (QHS&E) as core values, ensuring no activity introduces risk to employees, processes, customers, or communities.
  • Seek continual improvement in HSE, integrating customer, process, and public insights.
  • Demonstrate effective safety leadership and oversee health & safety arrangements for subordinates and visitors.
  • Apply "Stop Work Authority" if necessary in the event of safety, quality non-conformances, or integrity concerns.

Quality

  • Stay familiarised with Weatherford’s Quality policies and actively enhance the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Prioritise quality in all business areas, searching for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Work with GZ Quality teams and R&M Quality to uphold conformity to internal and external client/industry standards.

Communication

  • Maintain effective communication with key internal and external stakeholders, including Quality, GZ Product Line, and Global Product Line teams, as well as clients.
  • Assist with client visits to demonstrate commitment to Weatherford’s Quality and HSE processes.
  • Regularly update stakeholders on objectives, challenges, issues, and quality concerns that may impact objectives.

Financial & Performance

  • Monitor GZ Product Line NPT, COPQ, and process/procedural adherence, identifying underperformance and collaborating with Quality and Product Line management to improve targeted KPIs.
  • Demonstrates financial accountability for function budgets and personal expenses.

People & Development

  • Engage in career development discussions with line managers to align personal growth with Weatherford’s objectives.
  • Maintain business and compliance training certifications to develop knowledge and expertise.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent diploma/certificate) in engineering, Quality, Management, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • 3-8 years’ experience in a Quality, Service Delivery, or related functional role.
  • Subject matter expertise in Tubular Running Services (TRS).
  • 5+ years’ experience in a leadership role, providing cross-functional influence.
  • 3+ years’ relevant experience in quality-related capacities.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Project management,
    • Quality assurance/control processes,
    • Lean Six Sigma philosophies.
  • Proven ability to execute and achieve impactful results.
  • Detail-oriented with skills in prioritisation, multitasking, and deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving, creativity, and resourcefulness.
  • Global and virtual teamwork proficiency across multiple geographies.
  • Organised, strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare clear reports and presentations on complex topics.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% (both domestic and international).

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Lean Six Sigma practical experience.
  • Experience in Lean Operations.
  • Familiarity with Weatherford’s Quality systems (WPTS and OEPS).
  • Project delivery and implementation experience.
  • Background in Oil and Gas surface systems, down-hole tools, and applications.
