Job Overview

Weatherford are seeking an experienced Geozone Product Line Quality Leader in Tubular Running Services (TRS) to join their team in Aberdeen, UK.

The Geozone (GZ) Product Line (PL) Quality Leader serves as a subject matter expert for the GZ quality team, focusing on Bubular Running Services (TRS). This role involves ensuring proper implementation of procedures and work instructions across R&M and Operations locations, while identifying opportunities to streamline or revise them for improved clarity.

In case of incidents within TRS, the GZ PL Quality Leader will coordinate with cross-functional resources to lead investigations, perform root cause analyses, and oversee the closure of investigations. Additionally, this role involves analysing recurring Service Disputes and Liquidated Damages within TRS to drive improvement initiatives that reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).

The position will report to the Quality function, providing product line expertise to support quality improvements, reduced Non-Productive Time (NPT), fewer quality incidents, and enhanced margins within TRS.


Responsibilities

Operations

  • Support Global Service Delivery in the distribution of OCPs (Operational Control Plans), PSRPs (Product & Service Realization Processes), and work instructions, while aiding necessary training in collaboration with the product line.
  • Partner with Global PL Quality Leaders and Global Service Delivery to address concerns regarding OCPs, PSRPs, work instructions, and procedural deficiencies, as well as opportunities to streamline and potentially obsolete documentation.
  • Drive adherence to Global Product Line processes, OCPs, PSRPs, and work instructions across teams.
  • Implement prevention-based quality tools, fostering a Quality-first mindset. Lead:
    • Process Control (SPC, Statistical Process Control; Design of Experiments; poke-Yoke) to mitigate potential failure modes and reduce process variance for consistent outcomes.
  • Ensure execution of CTQs (Critical to Quality) and CTPs (Critical to Process).
  • Utilise tools like process mapping, cause-and-effect diagrams (Ishikawa), control charts, and Pareto charts to identify and address issues, recommending corrective action.
  • Enhance PL quality within GZ operations, including:
    • Service alerts
    • Technical work instructions
    • Operational control plans (OCPs)
    • Product & Service Realization Process (PSRP)
    • Zero-tolerance rules
    • Recalls, checklists, and dashboards
  • Identify and eliminate non-value-added process steps in collaboration with Quality & Product Line teams.
  • Drive process and work instruction compliance to reduce defects, NPT, and COPQ.
  • Oversight of Project Readiness Projects and associated processes.
  • TCAR (Tubular Running Services-exclusive Corrective Action Request)
    • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for designated Product Line(s) CPARs (Corrective and Preventive Actions), integrating expertise from Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and Product Lines.
    • Promote prevention of future occurrences, reduce NPT and COPQ.
  • Coordinate PC1/PC2 updates (Corrective Action/Prevention) internally in GZ and with Global PL Quality Product Line Leader.
  • Review and trend PC3s, escalating concerns to the GZ Quality Manager.
  • Validate and measure the effectiveness of PL corrective actions resulting from CPARs.
  • Maintain a systematic Lessons Learned database for the Product Line, ensuring it is accessible to the organisation.
  • Analyse and act on COPQ related to GZ Product Line(s), monthly, addressing NPT and COPQ targets through improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct or collaborate on Work Instruction Training where Quality issues stem from poor process adherence.
  • Offer Product Line SME support during technical audits as requested by the GZ Quality Manager and Auditor.
  • Ensure alignment with TDME (Technical Data Management & Enhancement; calibration) adherence, supporting training and improvements where needed.
  • Assist in tendering and contract reviews—aligned with Project Readiness Assessment processes.
  • Lead or oversee Project Readiness for execution.

Quality

  • Demonstrate strong awareness and compliance with Weatherford’s Quality policies, robustly upholding Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Maintain quality as an operational priority, persisting in process improvements.
  • Collaborate with the GZ Quality team and R&M Quality to implement quality programs, ensuring continual improvement and adherence to internal/external client quality standards.

Communication

  • Maintain effective internal communications with stakeholders, including Quality teams, Global PL, R&M, and Operations.
  • Represent Weatherford during client visits and proactive quality-related engagements.
  • Provide transparent updates on:
    • Annual objectives.
    • Progress and roadblocks influencing objectives.
    • Quality concerns requiring escalation.

Financial & Performance

  • Monitor GZ Product Line(s) performance metrics, including:
    • NPT (Non-Productive Time).
    • Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
    • Process/Procedural adherence.
  • Collaborate with Quality and PL management to address performance gaps via KPI-driven initiatives.
  • Ensure employees champion financial responsibility, whether aligned with budgetary oversight or individual expenses.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Management, or a related field (from an accredited university) or equivalent qualification with pertinent industry experience.
  • 3-8 years’ experience in a Quality, Service Delivery, or related functional role.
  • Subject matter expertise in Tubular Running Services product line.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a Leadership position with cross-functional decision influence.
  • 3+ years’ relevant experience in quality-related functions.
  • Strong project management, quality assurance, and quality control knowledge.
  • Proven ability to execute impactful business outcomes within organizational structures.
  • Analyticaldetail-orientation, with exception skills in:
    • Multitasking within deadlines.
    • Offering creative and resourceful problem-solving.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills:
    • Collaborating effectively in global and virtual teams, across geographies/markets.
    • Exceptional interpretative abilities in written, verbal, and presentation contexts.
  • Ability to:
    • Prepare clear oral and written reports/opinions/presentations.
    • Availability to travel for up to 50% of total time—including domestic/international trips.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Lean Six Sigma certification and practical experience.
  • Lean Operations practitioner experience.
  • Familiarity with WPTS and OEPS (Weatherford Quality systems).
  • Experience with project delivery and implementation cycles.
  • Specialised knowledge in:
    • Oil & Gas surface systems.
    • Down-hole tools & applications.
