map16

map16 is a technology-driven company transforming infrastructure and utility management through advanced GIS software and wastewater monitoring solutions. We support clients in optimising their operations, improving sustainability, and meeting regulatory requirements.

Our cloud-based asset management platform connects seamlessly with field operations, providing real-time data visualisation, asset tracking, and analytics for better decision-making. Innovative wastewater monitoring products, including VisionPro, deliver precise sensor data and chamber imagery to help manage risks and protect the environment. We turn complex data into actionable intelligence, helping our customers manage their assets more efficiently.

The Role

We are looking for an extra pair of hands to help us grow our platform. This is a full-time summer placement based at our office in Stroud, Gloucestershire, supporting the implementation and maintenance of our asset management solutions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This is a highly methodical, detail-focused role where you will:

  • Prepare, clean, and organise geospatial and asset data for migration into our cloud-based platforms.
  • Work with GIS tools to validate data quality and ensure accurate mapping of highways and water infrastructure.
  • Build customer-facing web maps and assist with testing migrated datasets to ensure everything is accurate.
  • Document processes and support the team with basic reporting.

Full training and support will be provided throughout. You won't be expected to know everything on day one – we want someone eager to learn and happy to roll up their sleeves.

Who We're Looking For

We think this is a great fit for a university student or recent graduate. Particularly anyone with an interest in geography, GIS, or mapping, who is looking for hands-on experience and a foot in the door in the geospatial software industry.

Prior GIS experience is a bonus, but genuinely not essential. If you have used QGIS or ArcGIS during your studies, that’s great. If not, we will teach you.

What matters more is a sharp eye for detail and confidence with computers. You’ll be handling large datasets, so accuracy is key.

You are organised, structured, and have a natural curiosity for solving problems.

You're able to work effectively on-site in a team environment and communicate clearly with your colleagues.

Qualifications (Nice to haves, not must-haves)

  • Studying or recently graduated in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of asset management, infrastructure, or utilities is an advantage but not required.
