Standing Tall – what we do
Standing Tall is ending homelessness one person at a time by matching people experiencing homelessness with stable jobs and safe homes. It’s the combination of a stable job and a safe home that’s providing a realistic pathway for the people we help to leave the streets for good. Our model is working with 80% of the people we help being still off the streets and in the same job one year later.
When a person is ready, we match them into a stable real Living Wage job with one of our employer partners. These include Lidl, Network Rail, Serco, Barclays, and ISS. Secondly, we ensure these people have a safe home through our Amici Hosts. After six months with one of our Amici Hosts (someone with a spare room), the person is ready to get their own place.
Thirdly, we have a Talent Scout in each of our cities supporting the person for at least 12 months. We’ve been working in Birmingham since 2020 and in London and Manchester since 2022. In 2024, we started working in Bristol, Leeds and Liverpool, and in 2025 expanded into Nottingham and Derby.
The role
The organisation is looking for a versatile person who makes things happen and has exceptional emotional intelligence. You will be expected to travel regularly in Glasgow, to ensure the quality of Standing Tall’s offer is retained and enhanced. You will also be expected to travel to Birmingham once month for a team day and monthly travel to another city may occur for supervision (travel costs will be covered by Standing Tall).
You will be responsible for building relationships with local organisations, identifying, earning the trust of and effectively assessing people who have been through homelessness and supporting our Amici Hosts. As a result, in a 12-month period, you will work to help 12-15 people to move away from the streets for good by matching them with stable jobs and safe homes.
Standing Tall is committed to our responsibilities for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. This post is subject to a satisfactory DBS check and references.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
