Position Summary

The Global Accountancy Regulatory and Engagement Manager plays a critical role in advancing IFAC’s public policy, regulatory affairs, and external advocacy agenda, with a particular focus on supporting IFAC’s advisory groups dealing with future-readiness, technical accounting, audit & assurance, and ethics.

Reporting to the Head of Advocacy, Regulatory, and Policy, this position is responsible for end-to-end support for three Advisory Groups:

  • Public Policy and Regulation Advisory Group (PPRAG)
  • Professional Accountants in Business Advisory Group (PAIBAG)
  • Small and Medium-sized Practices Advisory Group (SMPAG)

The manager will also lead in supporting Communities of Practice aligned with IFAC’s advocacy and member engagement priorities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Researching emerging global issues affecting the profession to generate high-quality agendas and materials for Advisory Group meetings.
  • Ensuring insights from advisory activities are translated into strategic outputs to support IFAC’s advocacy efforts, policy communications, and regulatory responses.
  • Supporting broader policy and advocacy initiatives across PAIB, SME, and SMP communities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Global Policy and Advocacy

Duty critical to IFAC

  • Coordinate and provide knowledge support across PPRAG, PAIBAG, and SMPAG, ensuring alignment, information sharing, and consistent messaging.
  • Draft, edit, and finalize policy papers, technical briefs, and external communications for global advocacy and regulatory matters—ideal for PAIBs, SMPs, and SMEs perspectives.
  • Research evolving regulatory developments, policy trends, and issues affecting the global profession (focusing on professionals in business, SMPs, and SMEs).
  • Develop high-quality materials for meetings, briefings, and presentations, incorporating relevant stakeholder perspectives.
  • Facilitate internal coordination for policy alignment and advocacy initiatives across departments.

Professional Engagement

  • Engage with Advisory Groups, shaping agendas, synthesizing discussions into technical insights, and drafting presentations, materials, and deliverables (e.g., articles, toolkits, reports).

  • Build and maintain relationships with:

    • IFAC member organizations
    • Volunteers
    • Firms
    • Global standard-setting bodies
    • External stakeholders
  • Oversee the effective operation of PPRAG, PAIBAG, and SMPAG, including relational support with members and technical advisers.

  • Maintain accurate records for:

    • Regulatory tracking
    • Stakeholder contacts
    • Project activities

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or a related field (a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) credential preferred).

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in:
    • Auditing
    • Industry accounting roles
    • Professional services firms
    • Standard-setting organizations
    • Professional accountancy organizations

Skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of distilling complex material for differing audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with:
    • Digital collaboration tools (SharePoint, Teams)
    • Project management software
    • Artificial Intelligence applications
  • Strong analytical ability, with experience:
    • Evaluating accounting, assurance, and ethical challenges.
    • Identifying key issues and developing targeted outputs.
  • Demonstrated capability to:
    • Work collaboratively across teams, organizational cultures, and seniority levels.
    • Engage external stakeholders, including government officials.
  • Organisational strengths with ability to:
    • Manage deadlines efficiently.
    • Handle external-driven timelines.
  • Commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement in deliverables and processes.
  • Experience with content management systems and social media tools.
