About the Role

  • Collaborate in defining the sales strategy, business plans and financial forecasts for the sector which he/she is specialised in
  • Maximize profitability with clients through the appropriate pricing of new business wins, product extensions, and cross-selling other BBVA products.
  • In partnership with other CIB units (product, risk, legal...), drive the execution of the sales strategy, to achieve new business sales objectives, maintain current revenue streams, expand market share and increase the share of wallet with target clients.
  • Cover a specific client's portfolio managing the entire sales process (including visit/call plans, proposals, contract negotiation, documentation and implementation), being responsible for providing global coverage and acting as a link between BBVA and the client.
  • Develop and manage a pipeline of potential and probable new business wins (with existing or prospective clients), documenting status and assumptions throughout the sales process.
  • Understand clients' needs and strategic decisions.
  • Stay abreast of national and international news that may affect his/her sector.
  • Interact directly with the client at top management level, sometimes accompanied by product units and/or the Industry Banker, providing global coverage.
  • Review and update customer's financial programs according to risk consumption.
  • Manage the entire admission process (proposal's preparation, submission and presentation for approval).
  • Register, monitor, modify and update customers' activity, profitability and business opportunities in the in-house client management tools (Global Desktop).
  • Represent BBVA at appropriate external market/industry forums and roadshows.

  • University degree required; Master's degree in Finance or an MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience covering insurance companies in the UK market.
  • Proven track record in similar entrepreneurial and business development roles within leading UK banking institutions.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Extensive experience covering insurance clients within leading UK banking franchises.
  • Strong understanding of debt capital markets, Global Markets products, and Investment Banking solutions.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; additional languages (such as Spanish) are considered an asset.

  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong commercial mindset and client relationship management skills.
  • High level of accountability, commitment, and adherence to internal procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate successfully within matrix organizations and cross-functional environments, working closely with international teams.
