The Banker
The Banker is a senior-level position responsible for ensuring efficient and optimal use of capital in Europe, Middle East & Africa and the UK region, with responsibilities for Capital Management and Leveraged Finance/ Sponsor-owned portfolio companies coverage.
Responsibilities
Capital Management
- Provide leadership and active participation in global projects for Capital Management (e.g. Banking Balance Sheet Forum, Lower Left Reviews, RWA/GAAP monitoring etc.), liaising with APAC, Latam and NAM Capital Management teams to ensure globally consistent practices
- Coordinate Banking Balance Sheet Forum (BBSF) and capital approvals and recommendations, supporting Bankers throughout the process
- Act as a capital management subject matter expert supporting Basel III Endgame, client financials, return methodologies and other capital related workstreams
- Report periodically on capital and returns performance to regional and global senior management to help shape client and portfolio strategies
- Partner with Risk to ensure strong first line of defence
- Navigate strong working relationships with internal and external partners
- Recruit and develop diverse talent for the Corporate Bank and serve as a mentor to junior bankers
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
Sponsor-Owned Portfolio Companies Coverage
- CB Coverage Banker for a portfolio of Leveraged Finance/ Sponsor-Owned portfolio companies
- Develop and execute client and product strategies relevant to the Sponsor Portfolio Clients including financing, derivatives, foreign exchange and cash management solutions
- Partner with Leveraged Finance, GAM, IB, Leveraged Finance Underwriting and Risk as part of transaction origination and execution and to understand Sponsor requirements
- Work with GAM, IB, LevFin, Markets and TTS partners to manage overall client relationships, deliver cross sell, as well as support our advisory efforts by building and maintaining close client relationships
- Partner with Markets to deliver hedging and foreign exchange solutions, and TTS to originate and implement cash management solutions
- Own the first line of defence responsibility for assessing the credit risk of portfolio companies in order to define Citi’s risk appetite
- Ensure client relationships and proposed client solutions meet or exceed internal risk and return standards

Qualifications
- Ideally 10+ years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated collaboration with multiple corporate banking stakeholders including coverage teams, risk and products
- Comprehensive knowledge of corporate banking business including related products, pertinent regulations and the lending and credit approval process
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, negotiation, presentation sales, client-relationship building, analytical and credit skills
- Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Experience in originating, structuring and executing transactions and financings
- Experience with large, global corporate clients, capital markets products, derivatives, credit, cash management, trade, finance and securities products
- Experience in recruiting and managing diverse teams with commitment to talent development and ability to manage and work across a diverse and multi-country matrix structure
Education
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master's degree preferred
