Global E-commerce Tax Business Partner - EEA (Mandarin speaking)

Tax Professional (Senior) – E-Commerce, Europe & EEA

Location: Europe & EEA Team: Tax Department, Corporate Functions

About the Role

The Tax team supports tax advisory, planning, structuring, and tax controversy across direct and indirect taxes (corporate income tax, sales/use tax, property tax) while ensuring compliance and resolving tax-related issues for a rapidly growing e-commerce platform.

With e-commerce becoming a key battleground in the digital space, we seek a passionate and skilled Senior Tax Professional to drive tax expertise in Europe and the EEA. This role involves collaborating with senior business leaders, global cross-functional teams, and stakeholders to develop and implement tax-compliant solutions, aligning business objectives with regulatory requirements and providing actionable advice on tax planning, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Partner with TikTok to build an innovative, secure, and user-centric e-commerce ecosystem while ensuring tax policies and solutions remain compliant, robust, and globally cohesive.


Responsibilities

  • Strategic Tax Advisory & Solutions
    • Develop and implement comprehensive tax solutions for European operations, including:
      • Tax advice on new product initiatives, market entries, agreements, and operating models
    • Collaborate with in-house tax teams and external advisors to design tax-efficient solutions for e-commerce products, features, and fulfilment
    • Act as a single point of contact (Tax POC) for business teams, addressing tax queries, risks, and opportunities

  • Compliance & Risk Management

    • Review and enhance existing tax solutions, identifying efficiency gains and regulatory risks
    • Monitor evolving tax legislation in EEA markets and assess potential impacts on business operations
    • Prepare business teams for tax-related changes, ensuring proactive mitigation and preparedness
    • Conduct and lead tax compliance training for operational teams
  • Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Work closely with global tax teams and business leaders to align solutions across regions
    • Bridge tax expertise with non-technical stakeholders (legal, finance, product, operations) to simplify complex concepts
    • Liaise with external advisors and regulators to stay updated on regulatory developments and disputes

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 5+ years of tax experience in the EEA, with a focus on indirect taxes (preferably in e-commerce, digital platforms, or marketplace operations)
  • Experience in tax advisory at large consulting firms (e.g., PwC, Deloitte, EY, KPMG) or in-house tax roles (preferably in a tech-driven or high-growth environment)
  • Professional qualifications preferred:
    • CPA
    • Chartered Accountant (UK/Ireland)
    • Chartered Tax Adviser (or equivalent)
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills for cross-functional/multicultural environments
  • Ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment while delivering high-quality output under tight deadlines
  • Self-starter and problem-solver who thrives in ambiguous, dynamic settings
  • Fluency in both English and Mandarin (required due to bilingual markets, where English proficiency may vary).

  • In-house tax experience, ideally in e-commerce, digital marketplaces, or tech platforms
  • Experience with tax controversies (VAT audits, transfer pricing, gateway planning)
  • Knowledge of e-fulfillment, logistics, and multi-jurisdictional tax compliance
