Global Employment & Mobility Specialist

Salary: £35,200 - £45,700 Location: Cambridge, UK – Hybrid Contract: Fixed Term until November 2027 Hours: Full-Time

We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation, part of the University of Cambridge. We are seeking a Global Employment & Mobility Specialist to join our People & Culture team, offering an opportunity to strengthen employment foundations and global mobility practices across international operations, advancing our purpose of pursuing potential.


About the Role

You will:

  • Develop, maintain, and ensure the compliant implementation of employment foundations for Cambridge’s employing entities outside the UK.
  • Coordinate the identification and resolution of gaps in core employment documentation.
  • Assess, communicate, and implement changes in employment law and global requirements effectively.

As the central point of coordination for global mobility requests, you will ensure these are managed through agreed governance processes with oversight of risks, dependencies, and outcomes. This role also includes close collaboration with People & Culture colleagues and specialist functions (such as Legal, Tax, Payroll, Reward, Finance, HR systems) to align international people activity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring compliance by coordinating the development and maintenance of employment contracts, policies, handbooks, and related documentation across international locations.
  • Monitoring employment law and regulatory developments and assessing their impact on existing practices.
  • Working with Legal, Tax, Payroll, Reward, Finance, and external advisers to align changes with operational needs.
  • Identifying and resolving inefficiencies or gaps in employment foundations to support overseas entities’ operations.
  • Managing global mobility requests from initiation through implementation—Prioritising governance, risk, and dependencies management.
  • Providing stakeholders with clear communication and guidance on mobility processes and changes.
  • Coordinating the delivery of international People & Culture projects, tracking progress, and managing dependencies.
  • Ensuring effective handover of changes to operational teams, including People Service Delivery.
  • Developing and maintaining tracked delivery plans and improving governance practices.
  • Promoting knowledge sharing to ensure consistent, accessible application of information.

Flexibility:

The role adheres to hybrid working principles. The selected candidate will typically spend 40–60% of their time in the Cambridge office, with flexibility on other arrangements from day one—including for employees with disabilities or long-term health conditions.


About You

You will bring experience in international HR or people-related roles with:

  • Extensive knowledge of employment law and practices across multiple international jurisdictions.
  • Experience in managing employment contracts, policies, and handbooks.
  • Understanding of interactions between People processes and areas such as tax, payroll, reward, and systems.
  • Experience in global mobility or coordinating internationally focused people activity.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Confidence interpreting requirements into clear, actionable documentation and outcomes.

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience supporting global mobility governance and processes.
  • Coordination of international projects and programmes.
  • Familiarity with delivery tracking tools like Jira or similar systems.
  • Exposure to people platforms, such as Workday.
