Job Description

Location: Bristol or Edinburgh (Hybrid)

Computershare has an exceptional opportunity for a Global Head of Application Management to join our global technology team at a pivotal point in our transformation journey.

Reporting directly to the Global Head of Technology Operations, you will lead a global function spanning application support, hosting and release management teams, that underpin critical services across our international business. Working closely with senior technology leaders, including our software development teams, you will shape strategy, drive operational excellence and ensure the reliable delivery of technology services that support millions of customer interactions worldwide.

A role you will love

As our Global Head of Application Management, you will lead, develop and inspire a globally distributed team of technology professionals, including several senior functional leaders responsible for the application portfolios within their respective domains.

You will define and implement the target operating model for Application Support, Release Management and Hosting, ensuring the function is scalable, resilient and aligned to global best practice.

Working closely with technology and business leaders across the organisation, you will drive service excellence, operational efficiency and continuous improvement across a diverse application estate.

Other Key Responsibilities

  • Owning the standardisation of application management practices and processes, ensuring alignment with ITIL principles and governance standards.
  • Defining and delivering the global application support strategy in partnership with Technology Operations, Engineering and other key technology functions.
  • Building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across the organisation, including Business Line CEOs and their leadership teams.
  • Leading and developing high-performing teams through effective coaching, mentoring and succession planning.
  • Ensuring robust policies, controls and operational procedures are in place and regularly reviewed to support service excellence and risk management.
  • Overseeing demand, capacity and resource planning across Application Management, Hosting and Release functions to ensure services remain effective, efficient and scalable.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance application stability, service performance and the overall customer experience.

What will you bring to the role?

We're looking for an accomplished technology leader with a proven track record of leading large-scale application management functions within complex, global organisations. You'll bring deep expertise across application support, release management and hosting, combined with a strong understanding of modern technology landscapes, including cloud-based platforms and services.

You will have experience leading large, globally distributed teams through other leaders, creating high-performing environments that consistently deliver reliable and resilient technology services. Just as importantly, you'll be comfortable operating at executive level, influencing senior stakeholders across both technology and the wider business.

Some Other Key Skills That You’ll Have

  • A proven background leading large-scale Application Management, Application Support, Release Management and Hosting functions within complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience developing and delivering technology operating models that drive service excellence, scalability and operational efficiency.
  • A strong track record of leading transformation initiatives and embedding change across large, global organisations.
  • The ability to build credibility and influence with senior business and technology stakeholders, including executive leadership teams.
  • Strong commercial and strategic thinking, with the ability to balance operational performance, customer outcomes and business priorities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes, navigate complexity and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of modern technology platforms, including cloud services, automation and emerging technologies relevant to enterprise application management.
