Job Description

The Global Head of Engineering leads Brambles’ global engineering strategy, defining the vision for world-class pallet pooling and supply chain operations across 60+ countries. As the most senior technical leader globally, you will:

  • Set the strategic technical direction for engineering, driving innovation, growth, operational excellence, safety, and sustainability.
  • Partner with the Head of Global Supply Chain and regional leadership to transition toward advanced automation and "Plant of the Future" capabilities.
  • Balance global standardization with regional flexibility to deliver scalable, cost-effective, and resilient engineering solutions.
  • Achieve step-change improvements in asset reliability, uptime, safety performance, and cost disruption through innovation, automation, and disciplined investment governance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide global technical leadership for engineering strategy, standards, and execution, aligning with supply chain objectives, safety, and sustainability.
  • Develop and implement a global engineering strategy supporting growth, operational excellence, automation, and cost reduction.
  • Lead a multinational engineering team, fostering a high-performance culture, succession planning, and capability growth.
  • Own the global automation and Plant of the Future roadmap, overseeing major capital investments, tech deployments, and new facility builds.
  • Establish and enforce global engineering standards, safety protocols, and best practices across regions.
  • Collaborate with Regional Supply Chain Leaders to tailor engineering solutions while maintaining compliance and scalability.
  • Champion Zero Harm, risk management, and regulatory compliance while advancing sustainability through digital engineering, energy efficiency, and reduced emissions.
  • Govern the engineering portfolio, ensuring ROI-driven demand intake, prioritisation, and financial discipline.
  • Act as a thought leader in digital engineering, IoT, and automation to improve asset visibility, reliability, and performance.
  • Manage the global engineering budget, authorising capital investments and ensuring financial accountability.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with OEMs and suppliers to foster innovation and performance.

About the Person

We seek a highly credible, visionary executive with the following qualifications:

  • Credentials:

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical etc.), with a Master’s/ MBA preferred.
    • Certifications in safety, project management, automation, or logistics are advantageous.
  • Experience & Expertise:

    • Senior engineering leadership in logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
    • Track record delivering large-scale global automation programmes and complex capital projects.
    • Proven ability to lead multicultural, multi-site teams under global governance frameworks.
    • Skilled in aligning engineering standards and operating models within diverse regulatory environments.
    • Strong talent development record and capability to sustain long-term growth.
