JOB MISSION

As a member of the Global Merchandising team, this role reports to the Global Director of Channel Merchandising and will lead strategic global merchandising for both of our global key account (GKA) wholesale partners within the athletic specialty channel.

  • Lead a coordinated effort to shape strategic planning across multiple business units and align with global category direction.

  • Your team will own the global merchandising GKA plan(s) deployed by the regional channel merchandising teams across NA, EMEA, and APAC, informed by:

    • Global business analytic insights
    • Consumer research
    • Marketplace dynamics
  • Provide direct input into global long-range plans with ownership of:

    • Key product lifecycle management
    • Architecture product mix
    • Segmentation strategy for each account.

This position can be based at either:

  • Our headquarters in Boston, MA, or
  • Our office in Warrington, UK, operating on a hybrid schedule of three days on-site and two days remote per week.

Major Accountabilities

  • Oversight of a strategic GKA merchandising plan, aligned to:
    • Business ambitions
    • Brand alignment
  • Deep understanding of broader consumer behavior across lifestyle, fashion, and sport marketplaces.
  • Development of in-depth target consumer knowledge within the distribution channel.
  • Management and development of team members by providing:
    • Clear direction
    • Coaching
    • Feedback
    • Support navigating brand approach, commercial ambition, and company values.
  • Reconciliation of regional commercial input across both accounts, with direct communication back to the global category merchandising team.
  • Drive the GKA assortment strategy at each go-to-market milestone, ensuring:
    • Priority category execution
    • Global model focus
    • Alignment with model lifecycle planning and long-range plans.
  • Development of assortments that meet:
    • Shape and share targets
    • Product mix goals defined in the long-range plans.
  • Safeguard the integrity of key models and franchises through:
    • Lifecycle management
    • Product segmentation.

Requirements for Success

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, with a minimum of 12-15+ years of industry experience preferred, ideally with direct wholesale partner work.
  • Must be deadline-oriented, possessing:
    • Analytical skills
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Resourcefulness and problem-solving approach
  • In-depth knowledge of:
    • Channel segmentation
    • Range architecture
    • Product assortment planning
    • Concept drivers
    • Product flow
  • Sophisticated communicator, capable of:
    • Presenting clearly and negotiating with key account teams
    • Influencing multiple regions, cultures, and senior leadership
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for:
    • Influencing alignment toward the strategic merchandising direction
  • Must cultivate strong internal/external relationships.
  • Energetic, proactive, and solution-oriented with:
    • Proven leadership skills
    • Ability to align teams to outcomes
  • Ideal location is geographically close to either:
    • Key account headquarters
    • New Balance offices (preferably Manchester, ENG, or Boston, MA), with international travel requirements at key go-to-market gates.

Compensation (Boston, MA Headquarters)

NB Only Pay Range:

  • $141,200.00 - $182,200.00 (mid-range)
  • $223,200.00 (high-range) – Adjustable based on:
    • relevant experience
    • time in role
    • internal equity
    • geographic location
    • other factors
