About the Role
The Global Legacy Lead is part of Save the Children International’s (SCI) Global Fundraising Team, tasked with catalysing growth in individual giving and unrestricted income. The team provides strategic support to Save the Children member offices worldwide, fostering a vibrant fundraising community and ensuring global leadership in humanitarian fundraising strategies.
Role Purpose
Save the Children aims for long-term, sustainable unrestricted income as a critical driver of impact for children. This role focuses on legacy fundraising—a significant yet underleveraged opportunity across the global movement.
As the senior global expert on Gifts in Wills, the Global Legacy Lead will:
- Set the strategic direction for the organisation’s Legacy Strategy.
- Elevate legacy fundraising as a core driver of long-term unrestricted income.
- Provide capability, tools, and insights to maximise growth globally.
- Offer cross-market leadership to strengthen pipelines and embed a culture prioritising legacy income.

Principal Accountabilities
Strategic Global Leadership
- Lead the design, implementation, and evolution of Save the Children’s Global Legacy Strategy, aligning with organisational growth plans.
- Establish an Executive Legacy Acceleration Group to drive top-level engagement and champion legacy fundraising across the organisation.
- Provide global guidance on pipeline forecasting, ROI analysis, and long-term growth modelling.

Market Support & Capacity Building
- Identify high-potential markets and provide targeted support for national legacy strategies.
- Build skills and confidence among practitioners through 1-to-1 coaching and community leadership.
- Develop data-mining and prospect-identification tools (e.g., propensity modelling) to enhance audience targeting.
- Maintain a global repository of best practices, ensuring easy access to optimised assets and testing frameworks.
Integration Across Fundraising Programmes
- Collaborate with Philanthropy & Donor Development Leads to align pipeline strategies and reduce silos.
- Support cross-team projects, particularly in Mid-Value Fundraising (highly complementary to legacy initiatives).
External Sector Engagement
- Represent Save the Children in global fundraising networks to drive innovation and sector collaboration.
Experience & Skills
Essential
- Substantial experience in legacy fundraising leadership in large fundraising organisations.
- Experience developing and implementing large-scale legacy strategies requiring stakeholder engagement in complex international settings.
- Proven success in securing legacies and developing pipelines—multi-market or global experience is an advantage.
- Data analysis skills—ability to extract actionable insights from multi-channel, multi-market datasets.
- Strong stakeholder management in multicultural and diverse environments.
- Leadership & team-building abilities with excellent organisational discipline.
- Exceptional written and oral communication in English; additional language skills an asset.

- Experience running mid-value fundraising programmes.
Education & Qualifications
Essential
- A degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related fields (or equivalent experience).
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office, fundraising software, CRM systems, and data analysis tools.
- Fluent English and proficiency in other languages are beneficial.
