Job Title: Market Development Manager
Work Schedule
- Standard Office Hours: 40 hours per week
Environment
- Location: Office (hybrid/domestic and international travel ~25%)
About the Role
The Market Development Manager is responsible for driving global, customer-focused marketing strategies that support Microbiology Division’s strategic priorities and revenue goals. You will:
- Develop and execute annual customer campaigns for key target audiences
- Translate portfolio and go-to-market strategies into high-impact global marketing programs
Working in a highly matrixed environment, you will collaborate closely with:
- Product Management
- E-business
- Sales
- Regional Marketing Teams
To achieve:
- Define customer-centric value propositions
- Drive demand generation
- Ensure regional adoption of global strategies
Key Responsibilities
Global Campaign Strategy & Execution
- Lead integrated, customer-focused global marketing campaigns that drive:
- Pipeline creation
- Customer acquisition
- Portfolio growth
- Define target audiences and personas, developing differentiated value propositions and content strategies aligned with customer needs and buying journeys
- Own campaign architecture across content, channels, and touchpoints to ensure:
- Cohesive and optimised customer experience
- Effective localisation and execution in partnership with regional marketing teams
- Extend global campaigns into sales activation initiatives
Customer Journey, Demand Generation & Digital Excellence
- Partner with e-business to optimise:
- Channel mix
- Digital performance
- Campaign effectiveness
- Improve lead quality and conversion through:
- Optimised marketing automation programs (MAPs)
- Web UX enhancements
- Application/workflow-based content
- Leverage digital analytics, marketing automation, and CRM insights to:
- Assess campaign performance
- Improve lead nurturing
- Increase funnel conversion
- Continuously refine content, targeting, and activation strategies using campaign performance data

Go-to-Market Strategy & Market Expansion
- Support go-to-market strategies for:
- Existing portfolios
- New product launches
- Ensure alignment between product positioning, customer needs, and marketing execution
- Analyse:
- Market trends
- Customer insights
- Competitive dynamics
- Identify new growth opportunities (e.g., new regions, adjacent markets, applications)
- Enhance market opportunity definitions (addressable vs. non-addressable) and shape strategies for expansion
- Gather and synthesise:
- Customer feedback
- Field feedback
- Inform product development and improve market fit
- Communicate insights clearly to internal stakeholders
Stakeholder Partnership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Build strong partnerships with:
- Cross-functional teams
- Regional stakeholders (e.g., product management, e-business, sales, regional marketing)
- Align on shared objectives to deliver integrated marketing outcomes
- Facilitate collaboration across:
- Global and regional teams
- Convert strategic priorities into clear, executable marketing plans
- Balance global consistency with local market needs to drive adoption of global strategies
Performance Metrics, Planning & Reporting
- Develop and manage:
- Global marketing plan and calendar
- Accurate budget planning & monthly OPEX management
- Define and track KPIs measuring:
- Campaign success (e.g., pipeline contribution, lead quality, conversion rates)
- Regional adoption of global strategies
- Partner with e-business to analyse and report on:
- Campaign performance
- Vertical and product-level metrics (e.g., revenue pull-through)
- Provide regular performance updates and insights using data to inform marketing strategies

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in marketing roles with:
- Applied microbiology / life sciences
- Microbiology diagnostics marketing (preferred)
- Demonstrated success leading marketing campaigns in a matrixed organisation, with measurable impact on:
- Demand generation
- Growth-focused outcomes
- Strong experience in partnership with e-business teams, including:
- Marketing automation platforms
- Digital analytics
- CRM integration
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to:
- Present complex strategies to senior leadership
- Engage with global stakeholders
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail, with capacity to:
- Oversee multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
- Creative and data-driven approach:
- Ability to design customer-centric messaging
- Refine strategies through continuous improvement
- Experience:
- Delivering presentations & training for:
- Sales teams
- Regional marketing teams
- Customers
- Delivering presentations & training for:
- Customer and relationship management:
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with customers and key opinion leaders
- Technical proficiency:
- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Willingness to travel:
- Domestic and international (~25% of time)
