Global Markets Liquid Financing Quantitative Analyst
Quantitative Analyst – Front Office, Prime Services (QA Prime Team)
Purpose of the Role
Provide quantitative and analytical expertise to support trading strategies, risk management, and decision-making within investment banking. Apply quantitative analysis, mathematical modelling, and technology to optimise trading and investment opportunities across financial products and markets.
Accountabilities
- Develop and implement quantitative models and strategies to derive insights into market trends, optimise trading decisions, pricing, and risk management across various financial products.
- Collaborate closely with sales teams to identify client needs and develop customised solutions.
- Conduct in-depth research, data analysis, and statistical modelling to assess market trends, pricing, and risk dynamics.
- Provide front office infrastructure support, including ownership and maintenance of analytical libraries.
- Offer expertise on quantitative methodologies, technological advancements, and industry best practices to drive innovation within trading environments.

- Strategic contribution: Shape strategy, requirements, and change recommendations; align resources, budgets, and policies.
- Team management (if applicable):
- Define roles, plan for departmental growth, and oversee performance/counselling.
- Lead specialists, balancing short- and long-term goals while meeting corporate objectives.

- Subject-matter expertise: Although intended for leadership, individual contributors will:
- Guide technical direction and lead multi-year assignments.
- Identify cross-disciplinary needs, train specialists, and advise on long-term organisational risks.

Performance Obligations
- Advise key stakeholders (leadership, senior management) on functional risks, controls, and strategic alignment.
- Manage risks through assessment and governance of controls.
- Exhibit deep understanding of business functions to achieve organisational goals.
- Collaborate across teams, align solutions with business strategies, and solve complex problems.
- Foster trusting relationships with internal/external stakeholders through influencing and negotiation.

About the Position
Team & Focus Area
Key role within Barclays QA Prime—supporting the Prime Services Desk Strategy Group to:
- Develop analytics tools/models for market risk, counterparty risk, inventory, and resource management.
- Partner with traders to improve trading workflows and revenue generation opportunities.
- Focus on model development, market data calibration, and desk support alongside traders.
Key Responsibilities
- Model development & support: Create and maintain quantitative models for market risk, pricing, hedging, and trading strategy.
- Trader collaboration: Assist traders with decision-making and provide tools for portfolio analysis.
- Data & pricing expertise: Apply knowledge of linear equity derivatives (e.g., futures, swaps, ETFs), FX/interest rate hedges, and options pricing risk assessments.

Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Education: MSc or PhD in financial mathematics, quantitative fields (Maths/Physics/CS/Engineering).
- Technical skills: Extensive Python development; familiarity with OOP (C++ or Java) for core/low-latency analytics.
- Quantitative expertise: Strong grasp of probabilities, stochastics, integration theory, and statistical analysis.
- Clear communication: Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills (Differentiative)
- Practical experience in equity trading desks or client analytics.
- Cross-technology expertise: Cross-platform development (Windows/Linux), CI/CD pipeline automation.
- Data visualization: Proficiency with platforms like Jupyter or Dash.
