Role Overview
The Global Operations & Maintenance Engineering Lead - Senior Vice President is accountable for management of complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas. Leads and directs a team of professionals. Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the function. Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Generally accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/geographic regions. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication may be necessary. Accountable for the end results of an area. Exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning. Primarily affects a sub-function. Involved in short- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area. Full management responsibility of a team or multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval.
What You'll Do
Global O&M Program Ownership:
- Design, maintain, and modernize the global Operations & Maintenance (O&M) procedures and standards governing the MEP, and Fire Protection systems within our portfolio of critical facilities.
- Act as the primary owner of the asset information for all Critical Assets (including MEP, and Fire Protection equipment) supporting the Critical Facilities portfolio, housed in Citi’s Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), ensuring its completeness, accuracy, and availability to support strategic initiatives.
- Drive the digitization of all building operation outputs generated by our IFM supplier, creating a foundation for data-driven insights and AI-powered modernization.
Audit, Risk, and Compliance:
- Serve as the primary lead for responding to audit activities from both internal auditors and external regulators concerning global building operations across our critical facilities.
- Champion a robust risk management framework within the O&M function, drawing lessons from past incidents and root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences and ensure the highest level of operational resilience.
Leadership and Governance:
- Lead and manage a team of 5 remotely based Governance Leads, who are specialists embedded within our strategic data centers to provide on-the-ground oversight of our IFM supplier's activities.
- Instill a proactive risk identification culture within the governance team, ensuring that potential failures in equipment and operations are preemptively identified and addressed.
- Develop and implement a governance framework for our colocation data center portfolio, addressing the inherent risks associated with third-party suppliers, landlords, and the lack of Citi-owned assets.

Influence Design for Operational Excellence:
- Act as a Critical facilities stakeholder for Operations during the design and construction phases. Partner with the Design & Construction Lead to ensure new projects and retrofits are optimized for long-term operational safety, efficiency, and maintainability.
Training and Knowledge Management:
- Develop and facilitate structured training sessions and webinars for the RES organization.
- Ensure alignment with Citi standards, processes, procedures, and governance guidelines through consistent knowledge transfer.
Strategic Initiatives and Modernization:
- Lead the modernization of our global Operations & Maintenance (O&M) procedures and standards, a strategic initiative aimed at leveraging AI and business intelligence for predictive maintenance, cost optimization, and enhanced operational efficiency.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to drive the "Building Standards Compliance" program, a comprehensive exercise to bring a newly expanded portfolio of critical facilities into compliance with Citi's rigorous O&M requirements.
- Act as a key stakeholder in assessing and implementing Net Zero interventions in day-to-day operations, leveraging O&M requirements as a catalyst for sustainability.
What We'll Need From You
Essential Experience:
- Extensive experience in a senior leadership role within building operations, facilities management, or a related engineering discipline, with a focus on mission-critical environments.
- Proven track record of managing building operations for a large, global financial services institution, with a deep understanding of the associated regulatory and security demands.
- Demonstrated experience in driving global programs, managing remote teams, and effectively overseeing the performance of IFM suppliers in a complex, matrixed organization.
- A strong, demonstrable risk management mindset, with experience in incident response, root cause analysis, and proactive risk mitigation.
- Prior experience in leading strategic initiatives, such as technology modernization, process re-engineering, or large-scale compliance programs.
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), how they work, and the data that can be used from them to support our strategic initiatives and audit needs.
- While this is a strategic role, a strong understanding of MEP systems and data center operations is essential.
- Experience with CMMS and building asset management databases is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of smart building concepts and technologies (e.g., IoT sensors, digital twins, integrated building management platforms) would be considered an asset.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies in facilities management, including AI, IoT, and predictive analytics, is a significant advantage.

- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- A strategic thinker with the ability to translate high-level objectives into actionable plans and deliver results.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical issues to a non-technical audience.
- Demonstrated ability to author and edit clear, concise, and technically accurate documentation, such as operational standards, procedures, and governance frameworks.
- Resilience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding, and complex environment.

Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services) or equivalent professional experience.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer, P.E., IFMA, RICS) are highly regarded.
