Global Payments Project Product Controller
Global Payments Project Product Controller Location: Bournemouth Team: Product Control
In this role, you will play a key part in driving strategic change initiatives within the Product Control team at J.P. Morgan. You’ll collaborate across Finance, Operations, Technology, and broader business functions to deliver a diverse portfolio of Merchant Services projects.
About the Role
You will support the end-to-end delivery of projects in Product Control, partnering with BAU (Business-as-Usual) teams to shape project scopes, requirements, operating models, and implementation activities. This includes UAT/parallel run support, post-implementation validation, and ensuring alignment with finance and control controls.
Your role will involve:
- Bridging the gap between business needs and technical/project delivery teams
- Ensuring contracts are translated into robust documentation
- Facilating cross-functional collaboration for successful go-live outcomes
Responsibilities

Project/Change Delivery Support
- Assist in scope definition, requirements gathering, and implementation activities
- Partner with BAU teams to deliver operating model inputs, UAT, UAT/parallel run support, and post-implementation validation

Requirements Translation & Documentation
- Gather, analyse, and document business requirements
- Support the creation of functional specifications, process flows, and control considerations
- Ensure standing requirements meet financial and operational standards

Operating Model & Process Alignment
- Develop and document target operating models and process flows
- Align deliverables with existing standards and control frameworks

Project Governance & Coordination
- Track delivery progress, dependencies, and key milestones in collaboration with Business, Finance PMO, and Product Control leads
- Maintain RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies)
- Escalate risks/issues and follow up on actions where necessary

UAT & Testing Support
- Review test cases and accounting schemas for completeness
- Validate outputs to ensure finance and control requirements are met

Control Alignment & BAU Support
- Provide control-focused deliverables (e.g., substantiation, reconciliations, reporting validation) during key milestones
- Ensure BAU Product Control maintains strategic alignment

Team & Knowledge Development
- Support senior team members in project tasks, analysis, and reporting
- Enhance Product Control and project delivery expertise
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, & Skills
- Strong understanding of:
- Product Control, accounting, and finance control concepts (P&L, balance sheet, reconciliations, substantiation)
- Exposure to project delivery, business analysis, or process improvement in finance or payments
- Basics of finance systems, data flows, and reporting processes
- Analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented mindset
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities effectively
- Strong communication skills, with a focus on clear requirements, processes, and findings documentation
- Team player with a collaborative approach across functions

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, & Skills
- Experience in Finance/Product Control environments
- Knowledge of operating model changes, system implementations, or process enhancements (e.g., reconciliations automation, control standardisation)
- Progress toward a professional finance qualification (e.g., CIMA, ACA, ACCA)
- Hands-on experience with SAP GL and financial reporting systems
