About the Opportunity
Are you eager to take a strategic, leading role in one of the UK’s most ambitious finance transformation programmes?
Cambridge University Press & Assessment — a global publisher and assessor affiliated with University of Cambridge — is evolving its operating model through Project Atlas. This is a once-in-a-generation ERP & process transformation that will overhaul key financial workflows, reporting structures and data governance.
In this fixed-term role (definition phase only), you’ll play a critical part in ensuring financial systems align with business needs. As the Global Process Lead, you will develop the AR, cash allocation and credit control ‘blueprint’ by mapping current processes, identifying gaps, and translating the S/4HANA solution into actionable outcomes for our global finance teams.
This is a rare opportunity to accelerate your leadership while building something foundational that will shape Cambridge’s financial operations for years to come.
Key Responsibilities
You will co-own and direct the process transformation for AR, cash allocation and credit control processes across UK and global operations. Core responsibilities include:
-
Blueprint Development
- Collaborate with Functional Consultants, Data Owners and Change Mangers to establish a detailed as-is process baseline for Accounts Receivable, cash allocation and credit control.
- Ensure the Blueprints provide a credible, data-supported foundation that can be benchmarked against industry practices.
-
Gap Analysis & Testing
- Lead gap reporting between the current state and target state in the S/4HANA blueprint.
- Challenge and refine system ‘out-of-the-box’ configurations to align with business requirements.
-
Solution Ownership & Knowledge Transfer
- Deep understanding of how S/4HANA configures and manages fiscal operations:
- Credit management, cash posts & allocations, collections, and AR processes
- Ensure faultless translation of technical outcomes into practical service delivery for our finance teams.
- Deep understanding of how S/4HANA configures and manages fiscal operations:
-
Risk Assessment & Governance
- Assess risks, readiness and dependencies, escalating risks transparently through governance mechanisms.
- Partner with the Atlas Model Office to deliver problem backlog items, adhering to global standards.
-
Cross-Functional Alignment
- Act as a bridging expert between AR credit processes and ordering & collections (OgC) workflows, ensuring ‘end-to-end’ coherence in the new operating model.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
