Global Retail Merchandiser

Location: London

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Global Retail Merchandiser to lead the commercial performance of our retail business. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing international business in a standalone role offering significant ownership and the chance to shape how merchandising supports the continued growth of JW Anderson’s retail network.

Reporting into the Central Merchandising team and working in close partnership with Retail, Collection Merchandising, Supply Chain, and Visual Merchandising, you’ll act as the link between Product, Retail, and Customer. You’ll lead the seasonal retail buy across the full breadth of the JW Anderson offer - Menswear, Womenswear, Shoes, Leather Goods, Accessories, and Home & Garden - building assortments that respect local customer nuances whilst maintaining a consistent brand assortment, expression, and point of view across our international retail network.

As we continue to grow, you’ll play a key role in developing a retail merchandising function that supports stores across multiple markets while ensuring insight from our retail business continually informs future collections and commercial decision-making.

At JW Anderson, we believe the strongest merchandising decisions come from understanding product, customer, and context in equal measure. By combining commercial insight with observation and curiosity, you’ll help shape how our collections come to life across our global retail network, ensuring every store reflects both the creative vision of the brand and the needs of its local customer.

This means we are looking for someone who not only manages existing processes and performance, but also enjoys creating new ways of working, building systems, and shaping how the merchandising function develops as the business grows. You’ll have the opportunity to shape merchandising processes; influence the way we trade, and help establish ways of working that support the next stage of our retail growth. We’re looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who is excited by ownership, comfortable with ambiguity, and motivated by the opportunity to make a tangible impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the seasonal retail buy across the full breadth of the JW Anderson offer - Menswear, Womenswear, Shoes, Leather Goods, Accessories, and Home & Garden - building balanced assortments that respect local customer nuances whilst maintaining a consistent brand assortment and expression.
  • Own the day-to-day merchandising and trading performance of the retail business across the global store network.
  • Balance investment across categories, identifying opportunities for growth whilst ensuring a cohesive product offer that reflects customer demand, commercial priorities, and the wider brand strategy.
  • Monitor sales, stock, and trading performance, identifying opportunities to maximise full-price sell-through, improve profitability, and optimise stock efficiency.
  • Plan and execute stock allocations, replenishment, and transfers across the retail network.
  • Adapt assortments to reflect local customer preferences and trading opportunities, ensuring each store feels relevant to its market whilst remaining true to the central brand vision and product strategy.
  • Spend regular time in stores, building strong relationships with Store Managers and Retail teams, using first-hand observations to inform merchandising decisions.
  • Represent the voice of Retail within the wider merchandising organisation, ensuring customer insight and store feedback help shape future assortment planning and product development.
  • Partner closely with Collection Merchandising throughout the product lifecycle, providing commercial feedback on product performance, customer behaviour, and emerging opportunities.
  • Work alongside the Retail Director to align commercial priorities, retail strategy, and customer experience.
  • Collaborate with Visual Merchandising to ensure product presentation supports both the creative vision of the brand and commercial objectives.
  • Support seasonal launches, deliveries, store openings, and pop-ups.
  • Produce clear trading analysis and recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Develop practical merchandising tools, reporting, and processes that support the continued growth of the retail business.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You

You’ll probably be an experienced merchandiser looking to make your next move. You’re commercially minded, analytical, and naturally curious. You enjoy understanding why customers respond to certain products, how stores trade differently, and what opportunities exist to continually improve the customer experience.

You’re equally comfortable analysing a trading report, reviewing a buy, walking the shop floor, or discussing future collections with the product team. You enjoy working collaboratively and understand that the strongest commercial decisions come from combining data with observation, experience, and sound judgement.
