Global Senior Procurement Specialist
Global Senior Procurement Specialist – Clinical & Manufacturing Materials
Drive life-saving innovation by ensuring a seamless, compliant, and cost-efficient global supply of critical clinical and manufacturing materials.
R&D Partners is seeking a Global Senior Procurement Specialist to join a leading biotechnology company. This critical role ensures the uninterrupted, compliant, and cost-effective supply of clinical laboratory and manufacturing materials, outsourced testing services, and specialist life science services.
The position collaborates closely with Clinical Operations, Research, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Legal, Finance, and Manufacturing teams to support Clinical Development, R&D, and Manufacturing operations. This role includes 2 days per week working on-site in the UK.

Responsibilities
- Lead procurement activities for:
- Clinical trial materials
- Laboratory consumables
- Raw materials
- Reagents
- Packaging
- Reference standards
- Outsourced testing services
- Ensure continuity of supply by proactively:
- Identifying supply risks
- Mitigating gaps in clinical studies, R&D activities, and commercial manufacturing
- Develop strategic supplier relationships, including:
- CROs (Contract Research Organisations)
- Testing laboratories
- Specialist service providers
- Manage sourcing activities, including:
- RFx (Request for X) processes
- Supplier selection
- Tender evaluations
- Contract negotiations and awards
- Supplier onboarding
- Perform cost analysis and establish benchmarking to support robust sourcing decisions
- Drive cost optimization and value creation through:
- Effective negotiations
- Demand management
- Supplier collaboration
- Identify alternative suppliers and implement dual-sourcing strategies for:
- Commodity raw materials
- Critical materials to mitigate risk
- Support supplier qualification and approval activities in collaboration with QA, ensuring compliance with:
- GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice)
- GDP (Good Distribution Practice)
- GCP (Good Clinical Practice)
- Implement supplier-managed inventory (SMI) and risk mitigation initiatives for high-priority materials
- Develop and maintain Procurement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for:
- Continuous improvement
- Quality inspection readiness
- Audit compliance
- Maintain procurement master data, including:
- Materials specifications
- Supplier profiles
- Pricing structures
- Contract details
- Within the Oracle NetSuite ERP system

Requirements & Key Skills
- Proven procurement experience in:
- Pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences industries
- Exposure to clinical, R&D, and manufacturing supply chains
- Strong knowledge of:
- GMP & GDP regulations
- (GCP) a strong advantage
- Expertise in sourcing:
- Clinical trial supplies
- Laboratory consumables
- Specialized raw materials
- Reagents
- Outsourced testing services
- Preferred experience:
- Biological starting materials
- Traceable raw materials
- Analytical-testing service providers
- Technical proficiency:
- Advanced Power BI for data analysis
- Soft skills:
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and supplier management abilities
- Collaborative leadership with cross-functional influence
- Consultative communication across global teams
- Languages:
- Fluent in English (mandatory)
- Additional languages highly desirable but not essential
- Qualifications:
- Degree-qualified or MCIPS-certified (or working towards)
