We’re now looking for a talented and ambitious Global Social Media Coordinator to help bring this work to life online in a way that inspires action.
This role is the guardian of Islamic Relief Worldwide’s voice on social media. You will:
- Manage our organic platforms
- Tell powerful stories
- Amplify global voices
- Engage both existing and new audiences
- Create compelling content that drives advocacy and fundraising while enhancing our reputation as a trusted sector leader.
About the Role
You’ll play a key role in shaping the voice of a globally recognised charity—managing platforms and telling compelling stories that:
- Inspire action
- Build trust
- Connect with millions
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow global social media presence across current and new platforms
- Create engaging, high-quality multimedia content (video, design, copywriting)
- Communicate Islamic Relief’s humanitarian impact and amplify community voices worldwide
- Engage diverse audiences, including:
- Individual donors
- Policymakers
- Institutions
- Media outlets
- Deliver timely campaigns supporting:
- Fundraising
- Advocacy
- Emergency appeals
- Respond quickly to breaking news and global events
- Lead social media strategy using:
- Data
- Emerging trends
- Strategic partnerships
- Expand online influence through innovative, data-driven approaches

About You
You are a creative storyteller with a strong sense of purpose, blending strategic thinking and bold communication. You’re passionate about using social media to drive meaningful impact and fully aligned with Islamic Relief’s mission and values.
Key Requirements
- Extensive experience managing social media for a large charity or organisation
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute high-impact social media strategies
- Proven skills in:
- Video production
- Graphic design
- Compelling copywriting
- Experience using social media for advocacy and fundraising campaigns
- Deep understanding of:
- Trends and algorithms
- Emerging digital technologies (including AI)
- Ability to:
- Translate complex information into engaging, audience-friendly content
- Simplify technical concepts
- Exceptional written and verbal communication
- Always ahead of digital trends
- Calm resilience under pressure—especially during crises
- Highly organised, with sharp attention to detail and strict deadline adherence
- Collaborative and confident when working across global, diverse teams
- Proactive and solution-focused, driven to continuous improvement
