Global Technology / Semiconductors Analyst – HSBC Global Investment Research

About the Role

HSBC is one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organisations, operating in over 50 countries and territories. At HSBC Global Investment Research (GIR), a Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Client Servicing and Revenue-Generating unit, we specialise in Emerging Market research, covering:

  • 1,700+ companies
  • 60+ economies
  • 45+ sovereign bonds
  • 50+ currencies

Our team also collaborates across HSBC’s Group businesses to deliver high-impact insights.

As a Global Technology / Semiconductors Analyst, you’ll:

  • Produce differentiated investment research, building and maintaining robust financial models.
  • Drive high-impact client engagement with actionable insights on semiconductor sector trends and listed companies.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll be expected to:

  • Support equity coverage initiatives through detailed financial models, valuation frameworks, and earnings forecasts.
  • Identify investment opportunities and risks via fundamental analysis, scenario modelling, and thematic reports, covering:
    • Company-specific deep dives
    • Sector outlooks
    • Investment recommendations
  • Track industry developments and map their potential impact on stocks.
  • Present investment views to institutional investors, including:
    • Asset managers
    • Hedge funds
    • Pension funds
  • Actively participate in client meetings, calls, roadshows, and sector events.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you must have:

  • Strong equity research experience, ideally with Technology / Semiconductor sector knowledge.
  • Expertise in quantitative and qualitative analysis, with experience in:
    • Financial modelling
    • Valuation techniques (DCF, EV/EBITDA, P/E, SOTP)
    • Scenario/sensitivity analysis
  • Proficiency in data tools and platforms:
    • Excel, Bloomberg, FactSet, Visible
    • Advanced Navigators for valuations, sensitivities
  • Outreach & influencing skills, enabling you to establish a “Trusted Partner” reputation with clients and stakeholders.
  • +2.1 degree (or equivalent) in a STEM subject (Science, Tech, Engineering, or Maths).
  • Excellent time management, organisation, and multi-tasking capabilities.
