Job Title: Global Technology / Semiconductors Analyst

We invite an experienced professional to join our Global Investment Research (GIR) team, serving HSBC’s Corporate Investment Banking (CIB).
About the Role
Title: Global Technology / Semiconductors Analyst
Location: UK Team: HSBC Global Investment Research (GIR), a client-serving, revenue-generating unit in CIB—one of the leading financial advisory divisions.
GIR specialises in independent investment research with a strong focus on Emerging Markets (EMs). Our analysts cover:
- 1,700+ companies
- 60+ economies
- 45+ sovereigns’ rates
- 50+ currencies
Beyond CIB clients, GIR collaborates across the entire Group, offering actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities:

Differentiated Investment Research: Author data-driven investment notes, including:
- Coverage initiations on global semiconductor stocks
- sector outlooks & client recommendations
- thematic reports & research briefs

Modeling & Valuations: Build and maintain robust financial models, including:
- DCF, EV/EBITDA, P/E, SOTP models
- earnings forecasts, scenario work, sensitivity analysis

Research & Insight: Monitor industry developments in semiconductors and generate alerts to inform stock-level strategies.

Client Engagement:
- Present investment theses to institutional investors (asset managers, hedge funds, pension funds)
- Participate in conferences, roadshows, and sector events
Requirements & Qualifications
Applicants should meet the following criteria:

Extensive Equity Research Experience with preference for Technology/Semiconductor sector knowledge.

Expertise in quantitative & qualitative analysis, with strong skills in:
- Valuation techniques (LVPs/SOTPs, scenario modeling, risk/adjustment work)
- Financial modeling & data-driven forecasting

Technical Competency: Advanced proficiency in:
- Excel (complex formulas, macros)
- Valuation tools (Bloomberg, FactSet, Visible Alpha)
- Market data platforms (TCPDF,white Label Terminal, confirm suppa, Brown Brothers)

Research & Reporting:
- Proven ability to construct ratings reports (Buy/Sell/Hold recommendations)
- Develop immersive client presentations from research analysis

Conflict Resolution: Superb skills in:
- Stakeholder management (internally, with CIBMDs, Industry Affairs, and across Group client lines; externally, building trusted relationships with investors)
- Charisma & professional confidence needed for high-value partnership

- Comfortable performing multiple tasks with competing priorities

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum 2:1) in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
