Global Technology / Semiconductors Analyst – Join HSBC & Fulfill Your Potential

If you’re looking for a challenging yet rewarding career with growth opportunities, HSBC Global Investment Research (GIR) is seeking a Global Technology / Semiconductors Analyst to join our independent research team focused on Emerging Markets.

The role sits within HSBC’s Corporate Investment Banking (CIB), a revenue-generating unit covering over 1,700 companies, 60 economies, 45 sovereign rates, and 50+ currencies.


### About the Role

You’ll produce differentiated investment research, build robust financial models, and engage high-net-worth clients with high-impact insights. Ideal candidates must demonstrate a strong grasp of semiconductor trends and their impact on listed firms.

### Key Responsibilities

  • Define coverage for global semiconductor stocks using:
    • Advanced financial models
    • Valuation frameworks (DCF, EV/EBITDA, P/E, SOTP)
    • Earnings forecasts
  • Identify investment opportunities and risks through:
    • Fundamental analysis
    • Scenario modelling
    • High-quality client reports (e.g., Buy/Sell/Hold recommendations)
  • Analyse industry trends and generate actionable investment themes
  • Represent institutional investors (asset managers, hedge funds, pensions):
    • Present key views
    • Participate in client calls, roadshows, sector events

### Requirements

Must fulfill at least these criteria:

  • Proven Equity Research experience, with preference given to Tech/Semiconductor domain expertise
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analysis skills, including:
    • Financial data modelling
    • Financial valuations (discounted cash flows, multiples, restructuring)
  • Advanced proficiency in tools platforms:
    • Excel (complex modelling, sensitivity analysis)
    • Analytics tools: Bloomberg, FactSet, Visible, DCF applications
  • Exceptional stakeholder management:
    • Demonstrated as a trusted partner (internal/external clients)
    • Strategic and diplomatic communication
  • Ability to prioritise conflicting work, meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy
  • UK/UKVisa route preferred. 2.1 degree (or equivalent) in STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Maths) required
