Golf Centre Manager – Luton, Bedfordshire

Salary £37,332 plus excellent benefits

Job Description

We are recruiting a Golf Centre Manager for a venue that boasts both 18-hole Main course and 9-hole Academy course and is set in glorious parkland with easy access on the edge of Luton. The Golf centre also has a Toptracer driving range, a Foot-Golf course and a golf retail shop. The Golf centre currently has a £2m turnover and offers both membership and pay and play options.

Our client is an ambitious progressive Leisure Trust who are on a mission to increase the health, well-being and physical activity levels of the communities they serve. This is a fantastic opportunity that would suit a current Head of Golf, Operations Manager or Centre Manager as the successful candidate will be working alongside an outsourced contract catering company which delivers all the food and beverage operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overarching responsibility for day-to-day golf operations, ensuring standards are high and members and customers have an enjoyable experience.
  • Maximise the revenue across green fees, Memberships, driving range, golf retail, buggy hire, Societies, coaching, Competition and events.
  • Lead the site sales and retail team of golf operations assistants.
  • Work with PGA Professionals and golf coaches to develop golf coaching programmes, player pathways and develop initiatives to increase golf participation in the community.
  • Lead the commercial development of the Toptracer driving range and virtual bay offers by maximising bay utilisation.
  • Improve ancillary revenue lines such as golf buggy/trolley hire and golf retail.
  • Work closely with the Cluster General Manager, Head Greenkeeper and outsourced Food & beverage, Events and Membership departments to ensure the smooth running of the overall club.

About you:

  • You MUST be Interested in Golf, business minded, great people skills, a can-do attitude and be extremely customer focused.
  • Have operational management experience within a similar high-volume sports, leisure, entertainment, children’s activities or retail business.
  • Supervisory/people leadership experience possibly as a Team Leader, Supervisor, Assistant Manager, Duty Manager, Operations Manager, Leisure Club Manager, Store Manager.
  • Hands-on approach to leadership, always willing to support your team and interact with customers and members.
  • Have your own transport and live within commuting distance of Luton, Bedfordshire.
  • Experience of working closely with and managing outsourced service suppliers.
  • Flexible to work a range of shifts including some evenings and weekends.
