Location: Leeming Bar Salary: £64,000 per annum Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:30 am – 5:00 pm Type: Permanent
Imperial Recruitment Group are working with one of North Yorkshire’s largest manufacturers to appoint a Goods-In Manager.
Main Purpose
As Goods-In Manager, you are responsible for all inbound material and equipment streams. Your team plays a critical role—receiving, handling, picking, and delivering materials at the right place and time for production.
Reporting directly to the Senior Inventory & Internal Supply Manager, you will:
- Lead and motivate the Goods-In, Yard, and Equipment (Pallet) Teams, ensuring industry-leading levels of performance, accuracy, quality, and safety.
- Develop and manage leadership within the department to drive sustained excellence.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the Goods-In, Yard, and Returnable Equipment (Pallet) teams
- Manage, motivate, and hold the team accountable for performance and standards
- Record, track, and drive KPIs to deliver strong accuracy and colleague performance
- Lead Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance daily and long-term departmental performance
- Manage system usage among colleagues to ensure accuracy in stock movement, from receipt to placement and consumption
- Take full operational responsibility for inbound stock accuracy, integrity, and control across all materials and equipment, collaborating closely with the Stock Control team
- Proactively monitor stock levels against production demand and procurement schedules, mitigating risks such as:
- Stock shortages (risking downtime)
- Excess stock (impacting working capital, space, and waste)
- Work closely with Procurement, Planning, and Finance to review and challenge delivery schedules
- Own stock losses, discrepancies, and write-offs by:
- Completing root cause analyses
- Implementing corrective actions
- Eliminating repeat issues
- Driving continuous improvement in linefeed, stock accuracy, and stock control processes
- Foster strong alignment between Goods-In, Stock Control, Procurement, Planning, and Finance
- Manage delivery scheduling to allow adequate time for tipping, checking, and putting away stock
- oversee transfer, call-off, and control of componentry in third-party storage locations
- Liaise with Quality Assurance and Procurement teams to enhance packaging and pallet formats, reducing damage risks
- Handle backloads and returns of damaged or non-conforming components and equipment to suppliers
- Manage recycling and waste streams as required

- Minimum 3 years’ experience in warehouse leadership, preferably within FMCG
- Proven ability to improve performance and control and reduce stock discrepancies
- Strong organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Experience in managing inventory and stock accuracy
- Excellent understanding of warehouse health and safety practices
- IOSH Managing Safely certification (mandatory)
- Familiarity with operational equipment, including reach truck, counterbalance fork lift, and pallet truck
- Strong systems capability, including:
- Experience with SAP, WMS (Warehouse Management System), MS Excel, and MS Outlook
- Must be a confident communicator who can engage effectively across all organisational levels
