Job Description
SCOPE OF POSITION
The position of the Goods Receiver includes the acceptance and handling of all incoming deliveries.
Processing all invoices into the Adaco Purchasing system and dealing with various departments in collection and safe receipt of goods. Involvement in the stores function and assist when necessary and required.
The Goods receivers will work closely with the Purchasing Assistant and ensure all beverage and store items are safely and securely accounted for.
RESPONSIBILITIES (OR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES FOR SENIOR POSITIONS)
Operation
- Inspect deliveries and date times to verify freshness, cleanliness, consistency, and quality throughout case lots. Refuse acceptance of damaged, unacceptable, or incorrect items.
- To process all goods incoming and make sure the correct invoicing is attached.
- To ensure an accurate inventory of all goods received is recorded via Adaco
- Take a proactive approach to the goods receiving activity, anticipating potential opportunities and risks
- To assist with the collection and storage of deliveries by department and the maintenance of the loading bay. To accurately record and account for all received goods
- Constantly reviewing all process with the purpose of introducing efficiencies and improvements which improve the service levels of the department.
- To assist in stores, cellar and purchasing related activities when necessary and also to cover holidays or absence of the staff in these areas.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned including working in a different department or restaurant, than usually assigned.

Health and Safety
- Ensure that all potential and real hazards are reported immediately and rectified
- Be fully conversant with all departmental Fire, Emergency and BOMB procedures
- Emergency procedures are rehearsed regularly with attendance records, implemented and enforced to provide for the security and safety of guests and employees
- Ensure the safety of the persons and the property of all within the premises, by strict adherence to existing laws, statues and applicable ordinances, and by anticipating possible and probable hazards and conditions and either correcting them or pre-planning a defence against them
- Stimulate and encourage a general awareness of Health and Safety in relation to all tasks and activities undertaken in the department
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently in English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to take and maintain detailed and accurate records.
- Purchasing experience, capable of confidently interacting with suppliers.
- Market knowledge and industry trends.
- Knowledge of Purchasing IT systems
- Enthusiasm and commitment to delivering and offering the best service and experiences possible in any situation.
- Able to work within a team.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
- To be detail oriented.
Desirable
- Recent experience within in 5-star hotels or a similar role.
- Previous experience within a goods receiving/stores or purchasing function
- A passion for food and beverage
- An understanding of the luxury sector.
- A passion for hospitality and an understanding of the UHNW customer.
- Professional, resilient, reliable, and capable of identifying problems and finding solutions
