Location: Glasgow (Hybrid) Duration: 6 months (with potential extension) Start Date: Immediate Classification: Inside IR35
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Platform Provisioning Engineer to join a leading global financial services organisation on a major cloud transformation programme.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a next-generation multi-cloud engineering team, responsible for building and evolving an enterprise cloud platform spanning GCP, AWS, Azure, and on-premise environments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and managing cloud platform provisioning solutions, with a primary focus on GCP, while driving infrastructure automation, Kubernetes platform engineering, and AI-assisted DevOps practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain platform provisioning and management solutions, primarily within Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with the ability to work across AWS and Azure environments.
- Design, provision, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Build, deploy, and manage Kubernetes and containerised platforms to support resilient cloud-native applications.
- Develop automation solutions using Python and Terraform to streamline infrastructure provisioning and operational processes.
- Implement and enhance automated deployment pipelines for cloud infrastructure and platform services.
- Leverage AI-assisted coding tools (GitHub Co-Pilot and Claude Code) to improve development efficiency and code quality.
- Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual intervention and improve platform consistency and reliability.
- Manage and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure using shell scripting (Bash) and command-line tools.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, architecture, and platform teams to integrate provisioning solutions across the broader cloud platform.
- Contribute to the continuous development and evolution of a large-scale enterprise multi-cloud platform.
- Ensure cloud environments adhere to security, compliance, and operational best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve platform performance, reliability, scalability, and developer experience.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Proven experience designing, implementing, and managing platform provisioning solutions within GCP environments.
- Strong Terraform (Infrastructure as Code) provisioning and management experience.
- Strong Python scripting and automation experience.
- Experience using Git and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience implementing automated infrastructure deployment and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience using GitHub Co-Pilot and Claude Code to optimise DevOps workflows.
- Strong ability to work within Shell environments (Bash).
- Demonstrated ability to drive and implement automation initiatives.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerisation technologies.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Experience with Microsoft Azure.
- Experience working within large-scale enterprise or financial services environments.
- Experience supporting multi-cloud platforms across GCP, AWS, Azure, and on-premise infrastructure.
