Governance Manager

At LionHeart Charity

About LionHeart

Established in 1899, LionHeart has evolved from its traditional roots as a benevolent fund supporting chartered surveyors’ widows and orphans into a multi-faceted support charity for the entire RICS community. We provide tailored assistance globally, ranging from financial grants to health, wellbeing, and work-related support—helping members navigate life’s unexpected challenges.

As an independent charity, we rely on donations and fundraising to sustain our high-quality, personalised support. Now, we’re expanding our impact, and we need someone passionate about governance and strategic support to help us thrive.

The Role: Governance Manager

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Primary Purpose: The Governance Manager will support LionHeart’s management team and Board of Trustees, ensuring full compliance with statutory responsibilities and charity governance requirements. You’ll oversee:

  • Maintenance of charity policies
  • Board and sub-committee meeting cycles
  • Periodic charity-wide governance reviews (scheduled for 2026-27)

This is a key operational role, ensuring LionHeart remains ethically robust, legally compliant, and adaptive in its mission.

Key Responsibilities

Board and Committees

  • Coordinate regular board meetings, including preparation of agendas, minutes, and action points.
  • Lead and support sub-committees (e.g., Audit, Finance, Trustees), ensuring their efficient operation.
  • Facilitate effective communication between Trustees, management, and staff.

Policies and Compliance

  • Maintain and review charity governance policies to align with legislative changes and best practice.
  • Ensure compliance with charity law, data protection (GDPR), and ethical standards.
  • Lead periodic governance reviews to assess performance and identify improvement areas.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
