Governance Officer

Governance Officer

Location: Bedford, UK Contract: Permanent, Full Time Salary: £30,000 per annum

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Governance Officer to support our Governance Manager, ensuring strong governance frameworks are implemented across the organisation. This role requires a candidate eager to develop their career in governance while actively nurturing their professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Framework Development: Ensure appropriate governance structures are in place across all parts of the group, including:

    • Constitutional arrangements
    • Codes of Governance
    • Standing orders
    • Schemes of delegation
    • Terms of reference
  • Compliance & Audit Support: Assist the Governance Manager in identifying gaps in compliance with:

    • RSH regulatory standards
    • The organisation’s chosen code of governance
  • Board & Committee Support: Provide administrative support to the Board and Committees including:

    • Minute-taking and action log maintenance
    • Agenda planning
    • Circulation of papers
    • Managing annual cycle responsibilities
  • Regulatory & Policy Compliance: Support with:

    • Filing regulatory returns
    • Annual declarations of interest
    • Maintaining the compliance matrix
    • Ensuring adherence to FCA consumer credit obligations

Requirements

To be considered for this role, we’re looking for:

  • Qualifications:

    • Ideally, a degree-level education
    • Commitment to professional development in governance
  • Experience & Skills:

    • Practical experience in a governance or similar role
    • Strong understanding of principles of good governance
    • Highly professional, organised, and deadline-driven
    • Exceptional attention to detail, with problem-solving abilities
