Governance, Risk & Controls Consultant – Recruitment Delivery Team

People Function – Northampton Office (Flexible Working Available)

About the Role We have an exciting opportunity within the People Function Recruitment Delivery Team. As a Governance, Risk & Controls Consultant, you will play a critical role in supporting our critical processes and controls related to recruitment, employment screening, and maintaining compliance with our Recruitment Policy.

This role focuses on overseeing governance frameworks linked to the end-to-end recruitment process for all worker types. Your duties will involve:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders, suppliers, and candidates.
  • Driving proactive improvements to enhance customer experiences while effectively balancing risk exposure.
  • Working closely with Procurement colleagues to agree pragmatic decisions on supplier personnel screening.
  • Supporting broader governance activity, including controls and assurance testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and oversee governance frameworks in recruitment, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, HR, and suppliers to streamline screening and onboarding processes.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and controls testing to mitigate exposure across recruitment workflows.
  • Represent governance perspectives in cross-functional discussions to drive alignment and improved decision-making.
  • Track compliance trends and identify opportunities to refine Recruitment Policy and supporting frameworks.

Flexible Working & Hybrid Approach

  • Contract hours per week: Between 28 and 35 hours.
  • Hybrid working model available—spend at least two days per week (or 40% of your time if part-time) in the Nationwide Northampton Office.
    • Office days will focus on collaboration, problem-solving, learning, and connection.
  • Maintain flexibility with generous home working access to support your preferences.
