Salary & Terms
- Pro rata permanent, part-time position: 18–19 hours per week | Term-time only | £28,142–£32,061 per annum (full-time equivalent)
- Location: Governing Body Advisor (Hybrid, Term-time) – Chorley, South Ribble & West Lancashire, governed by Lancashire County Council’s Directorate of Education and Children’s Services
Note: This role is not eligible for international sponsorship.
Position Overview
This part-time, term-time-only role is open for a School Governing Body Advisor within Governor Services, responsible for supporting volunteer governors in the education sector across Chorley, South Ribble, and West Lancashire (19 hours/week).
Core Responsibilities
The advisor will:
- Support volunteer governors to fulfil statutory functions, ensuring clarity in school vision, ethos, performance, and accountability.
- Arrange, advise, and minute Governing Body meetings in collaboration with headteachers and chair of governors.
- Provide strategic and operational guidance on educational performance, staff performance, and school financials.
- Act as a critical "friend" to governing boards while adhering to deadlines, ensuring accountability and compliance, and liaising with HR, pupil access, and related teams.
- Travel flexibly between schools, home, and the office to meet service demands.
- Maintain confidentiality over sensitive or children’s/employees’ data.

- High-level autonomy with strict deadline compliance.

- Strong written & oral communication, with proficiency in minute-polishing (documents reviewed by Ofsted and published).
