GP Training Programme Director – Somerset

Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen for 1 x 2 session GP Training Programme Director to support GP training in Somerset. The role requires working on Wednesdays, which is the scheduled day for our GP resident Drs half day release sessions.
Role Focus
The role of Training Programme Director is focused on the improvement of learner supervision, assessment, educational experience and outcomes, and patient safety for GP trainees. This role is continuously evolving and will also focus on whole workforce transformation and developing multi-professional links.
Responsibilities
- Base: Within the Somerset GP training programme.
- Locations: Mainly at the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust education centres in Taunton or Yeovil.
- Tasks: Deliver education to GP trainees and support other GP training programmes across the county and South West.
Collaboration
The successful applicant will work with other local TPDs and administrators to facilitate the provision of the half day release course for GPs in training. This includes managing available funds and resources.

Leadership and Support
- Leadership: Ability to lead and work with GP educational supervisors and local Primary Care Networks to support GP training.
- Support: Important work with our Educational and Clinical Supervisors to support and help them provide good quality supervision and education for trainees.
Additional Responsibilities
- Delivery and oversight of projects and workstreams to support doctors in training and practice based educators.
- Includes induction, one-to-one support, small group work, developing educational resources, promoting equality, Diversity, and inclusion within our training programme, and being an escalation point for both educators and DiTs.
