The Opportunity

As a Graduate Apprentice Electrical Engineer, you'll gain hands-on experience while studying towards a degree in Electrical Engineering through a structured four-year Graduate Apprenticeship programme.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll contribute to the design and delivery of electrical engineering projects, developing practical skills, technical knowledge, and industry experience from day one.

No two days are the same—you'll split your time between our office and project sites, giving you valuable exposure to every stage of engineering design and delivery.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll support our engineering team by:

  • Assisting in the design and development of electrical systems for substations and energy infrastructure projects.
  • Producing engineering drawings, calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Carrying out site visits, inspections and surveys alongside experienced engineers.
  • Supporting the identification and resolution of engineering design challenges.
  • Ensuring designs comply with health & safety legislation, industry standards and company procedures.
  • Taking part in project planning meetings, technical reviews and design discussions.
  • Assisting with project scheduling and cost monitoring where required.
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and clients.
  • Maintaining accurate engineering records and reports.
  • Completing your Graduate Apprenticeship studies while continually developing your professional skills.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is curious, motivated and excited to learn.

You'll ideally have:

  • A good understanding of basic electrical engineering principles.
  • An interest in electrical design and engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or electrical design software would be an advantage but isn't essential.
  • A strong commitment to safe working practices.

Qualifications

You'll have:

  • A Levels, Highers or equivalent qualifications relevant to engineering.
  • Higher Maths and Higher Physics (or equivalent).
  • A basic understanding of accounting principles.
  • The ambition to complete a fully funded four-year Graduate Apprenticeship leading to a degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • An interest in working towards professional registration with an engineering institution (desirable).

Desirable Experience

While not essential, we'd also like to hear from candidates who have:

  • Completed a placement, internship or work experience in an engineering environment.
  • Experience or exposure to electrical design, utilities, manufacturing, construction or industrial projects.
  • Awareness of electrical engineering standards and regulations.
