Graduate Apprentice Quality Engineering
Graduate Apprentice – Engineering (Quality Pathway)
Location: Prestwick, Scotland
Prestwick AeroSystems, part of Airbus, is one of Ayrshire’s largest employers. From our Prestwick site, we manufacture and assemble wing components for Airbus aircraft used worldwide. We are recruiting a Graduate Apprentice – Engineering (Quality Pathway), offering the opportunity to build advanced engineering capability while contributing directly to aerospace production.
About The Role
As a Graduate Apprentice, you will develop strong engineering foundations through structured learning, mentoring, and exposure to:
- Quality investigations
- Production processes
- Design data
You will support activities ensuring compliance with aerospace standards and help maintain the quality of components manufactured on-site. Your work contributes to the accuracy, reliability, and regulatory compliance of aircraft structures and assemblies.
Responsibilities
- Support investigations into live production issues using engineering data and measurement tools
- Review drawings, specifications, and build processes to ensure compliance
- Contribute to inspections of structures, assemblies, and components using approved aerospace methods
- Apply structured problem-solving to identify root causes, support corrective actions
- Use digital tools to record findings and drive continuous improvement
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams across the business

Learning Opportunities
- Core engineering competencies aligned to UK-SPEC (IEng)
- Mathematics, numerical tools, and principles of production and design fundamentals
- Mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems
- Advanced engineering project work in later years
- Exposure to digital engineering tools
Entry Requirements
- Flexible admissions with individual consideration
- Typically, four Scottish Highers at grade B or above, including Maths (or equivalent)
- Progression from Foundation Apprenticeships or relevant vocational learning welcomed
